There has been a lot of talk recently about CFL causing cancer. Due not only to unprotected UV light but also because of the mercury and other carcinogens.
Assuming you don't spend all day in your grow room right next to your lights, cancer shouldn't really be an issue with using these lights for growing. What I'm wondering is, do you think that these lights might cause problems with the genetics of your plants? Like deformed leafs, stunted growth, genetic abnormalities in future generations or clones?
Could these bulbs possibly cause higher rates of herming, weak plant genetics and other problems outside of your control? Also could the bud smoked from plants grown under CFL be more harmful to us than we think?
Lets get some opinions on this. If anyone knows anything about the way these bulbs work or the studies, please chime in.
