I'm going to start a small grow of about 4 plants and I just found a Hydroponics shop in my area that sells a bunch of grow equipment. It would be easy to get my stuff there because Im sure they have everything. Im a medical patient so its legal for me to grow...but is it a good idea to tell them that Im growing marijuana if they ask? Its a shady looking little shop and Im sure they are aware that almost all of their customers are growing weed.

they won't ask and if you tell they may ask you to leave. even though meds are legal hydro shops still walk a fine line.

Yeah you definitely don't want to say anything. I've heard of hydro shop workers being informants for the DEA and you never know who you can trust.

The father of one of my good friends was raided by a sacramento area task force merely because he bought some lights at a hydro shop. An undercover agent outside the shop (with no cooperation from the store) followed him home and took down all his information. The task force did this to about 12 other people and eventually raided all their houses based on false evidence and unsigned search warrants. He was a legal licensed medical grower and when his case beat the state of california, they pushed it up to the federal level.

This is why I don't even go to hydro stores unless I am only getting small items like nutes or pesticides or something. You can usually find everything cheaper online anyway, and it will assure anonymity.

yes..i agree, dont tell them ...for the all of the above reasons and the fact that it is NONE OF THERE BUSIUNESS,to put it frankly lol ...im sure they would not ask you what you are using it for and if they do just have an excuse (Your grandma wants to grow her tomatoes inside this winter) if you are asking if you should tell them in hopes that they might be able to give you pointers on what to buy for growing marijuana specifically, they probably wont beacuse that can potentially put there job at risk and besides thats what this sight and all these helpful ,experienced growers are for !!!:peace::bigjoint:

I just went to the shop and the guy did not ask but he totally knew. He was using analogies like "tomato" plants LOL. I asked him how many watts I would need to grow like 4 "tomato" plants and what he told me I'm sure was not for tomatos. I think he's just used to this kind of thing.

Hey tiny,
If they are a good proffesional shop and you tell them what you are growing they will tell you to go somewhere else. Greenthumb rule.
I personaly would say nothing to no one.
