Legalization - I can grow again!

Hello Brothers and Sisters!!

Long time lurker here, tried growing about 15 years ago (with some success using the advice found and provided by forum members.) but things changed in my life, and I could no longer take the risk! So, I've created a new account since I couldnt change my username, and here I am!

So, tonight weed's being legalized in my stated, with a provision to allow for home growing! Dec 7th, when the law takes effect, Im starting a new grow. Im sure lots has changed as far as growing. I'm familiar with HPS, MH, and CLF growing. I have no idea where to start with the new, state of the art L.E.D's these days. heh.

I plan on growing the max allowed per household (6-12 plants). I plan on growing in a locked area of the house, and would like to use those "tents" you can just put up to contain everything and reflect light.

Being that Im so new to all of this stuff, again, I was hoping to get some of your guys' opinions on which tents, leds, etc to start with. I do realize I can research around the forums, and I do plan to do so, but I'm very excited about tonight, and well, I'd also like to use this post to hopefully open up some conversations with people directly as well, as "picking your brain" is the best way for me to learn. haha!

Anyway, thanks for reading, and responding. Tonight, we celebrate!

Congratulations you lucky person..

So you've a max 12 plant count?

Think about how you'd like to grow?

You could have multiple tents (room size dependent) with various plants in various stages..

Or just have one big tent to pop 12 beans from start to finish..

Have a think about how often you want to crop and what works best for your needs and then the size of your space, how your going to keep it in optimum environmental range..

Try and think ahead and buy once instead of what most of us do which is go small and then change tactics multiple times.

It's a good time to be growing as far as equipment goes..

Congratulations.

My advice, since you're just getting back into things.
Start easy with just two or three plants, I'm liking pro-mix mycorrhizae hp for the grow medium.
I still use the bargain tent that I got more than 10 years ago, so IMO don't drop a shitlaod on the tent itself.
LED's - an approximation is 35w led/sq ft of grow, if you shop around a bit you can find some good deals. When looking at LED's you'll see "chips & drivers", look for Meanwell or Inventronics drivers and Samsung (lm301b/h) chips.
Remember ventilation & air-circulation are a must.

Have fun

fellow ohioan here and i'm so relieved that folks did the right thing!!!!! i started my girls a few weeks ago and i plan on getting a few more going in december and then next summer i'm hoping for an outdoor grow.

only advice i have: try to find as much used equipment as you can. i look through fb marketplace almost daily and was able to get some really good lights for a steal. there are grow tents, vents, etc all on there. after chatting with different sellers, i'm finding that most stuff on there has only been used once or not at all.

Is the 12 plant max if a person has a medical cared or is that for anyone living in Ohio? 12 plants equals way more than this lightweight would know what to do with!

Yeah, not only is 12 plants a whole ton...but the grow complexity and care multiplies out with that too. I'd start a run with something like 4 or 6 then upscale from there. That would also allow for some modularity. Doing 2 tents, so you can either do parallel grows or have rotating grows, have different conditions in each tent, etc.
