Should I add Kelp Meal & Neem Meal to Soil Mix?

Do you have any proof that Monsanto bought Fox Farm?
None whatsoever. I heard this rumor around here.

FoxFarms is not owned by Monsanto. That's a very old rumor. They are still family owned and operated since 1984.

Well there you go. Thank you for clearing this up.

Scott's is the company tied to Monsanto, which is now Bayer. Scott's distribute, or did for a long time, Round-up I believe. So says Wikipedia

I was convinced that I needed kelp in my initial no-till mix, so I bought a 50 pound sack of it from my local feed & seed store. It was the most expensive 50 pounds of anything I ever bought for my soil - like $55 CDN. When I got it home I noticed in the analysis it listed sodium chloride over 8%, so I returned it the next day. It turned out that I decided not to use either neem meal or kelp and instead went with more of a KISS mix.

Keep in mind this kelp was meant to be used as a horse feed supplement, so obviously properly sourced horticultural purposed kelp will be different. Just watch the source and look at the analysis breakdown. But after the kelp experience I decided to only use amendments that were locally sourced anyway, such as alfalfa pellets. At like $18 Canadian for a 50 pound feed bag, it's a great deal and works wonders. Soil life loves it.

I just got in my kelp and neem meal and was wondering if you guys recommnend adding it to my soil mix. Ive heard great things about these but I already have allot of stuff I just do not want to overdo it.

The soil is currently cooking and has the following mix. It will cook for about 4 weeks or so.

1.5 CU of FFOF
10Qt of Chunky Perlite
4 1/2 LBs of ECW
1 1/4 Cups Espoma Dolomite Lime
1 1/5 Cups of Espoma Plant Tone
1 1/5 Cups of Happy Frog Cavern Culture(bat and seabird guano, rock phosphate and Mychorrihizae)
.25 Cup of Glacial Rock Dust
1.5 Cups of Alfalfa Meal
1.5 Cups of Blood Meal
1.5 Cups of Fish Bone Meal
I amend reused mix less than that, seems hot hot

Just curious - ever try FFOF only in one pot as a baseline for how their mix performs?

Asking since I'm running 7 with FFOF only - mostly because I'm new and want to stay as simple as possible moving forward.
I don't mind the idea of adding nutes on the next run, or maybe to a select few if I have problems this time, but I figure that I'll never know what effect nutes are having unless I know how well the base soil performs.

I tend to be a bit KISS obsessive in practice - but in my brain and on paper there's a madman trying desperately to explain himself...:eyesmoke:

Most people say it starts lacking nutrients about midway through the whole grow. I Guess it always depends on different variables but I would at least throw in some earthworm castings.

Straight FFOF works great, but I added nutrients after a few weeks. I used Earth Juice. The buds had more flavor than you could imagine. I think it's the guano in the Earth Juice. Now I'm trying to do water only with dry amendments.

Here was the first run with the FFOF.
