Mom is the left. The four in soil are the cuttings I took from her a few weeks (3-3 1/2?) ago. I got them into soil last week, they rooted incredibly fast and are growing very quickly. These four are in my cardboard wardrobe box with a 65w/3900 CFL. I really dig these lights, they sell for like 15 bux and one in a box this size keeps the temp near perfect. I think there is plenty of light, as the plants grow real well and seem to like it. Momma is now about a week and a half into bloom and has started to flower. There is about 800W of fixtures in there with 4 plants this time.. I have logged a bit into an ongoing journal that has more details. I am always taking input good or bad. Ive only been doing this for a year so be gentle on the jeers.

Anyway I still have a long way to go before I can put them in the bloom room, I am debating letting them root and veg until the first week of Feb when the bloom room finishes..OR just building another room for my veg room and trying my hand at a scrog. . Future dreams.

I need advice so Here is/are my questions. If I want to start grooming and training these 4 starts, considering the potential looking at the mother plant. My goal is a nice level canopy @ 3 ft out of the pot. I guess it would be a scrog type grow? Where and when should I start pruning. Among a few resources I have Cerventes book, which is a wealth of knowledge. I guess before I go FIMing around and whacking my plants I wanted to hear from someone with a bit of experience. I tried it on a few sights in by current bloom and all I got were screwed up tops. I think I may have not cut off enough.

I was considereing to top them in about another week and use those for starts, them going from there. Or should I grow them up and take the bottoms? I want to have even height/sights on a little bit shorter plant, I don't mind if it takes a few months to get there. Also, If I do take the long route, what size pot should I use? I currently use 3 gallon in the next stage, which carries them thru bloom. Should I use larger pots?

The soil is Happy Frog straight out of the bag, I quit buying expensive nutrients so I have been using MIracle grow in low doses, with some success. I had added some enzymes to the soil mix some time ago so I think there is a healthy population of microbes, I may start feeding a little molasses to strengthen them up. The babies look a lot healthier in person. I may have burned them a little with an early feeding. about 1/4 strength..then the light slipped and burned a little early on also.. Other than that just straight forward grow in soil.

For the scrog I though about making a bamboo grid out of the smallest diameter I can get, about 3/16-1/4. I can adlust the height on the corners, and just tie a nice grid together. Thanks Ahead of time, and Merry Christmas to All !! :leaf:

My freezer is stockpiled full of fish. Salmon, Hali, etc. But yeah, anyway back to your thing, I simply use 1x1, nails, and halibut line. measure out my spacing, pound nails in, string it together the way you want it. Pretty easy. Works a bit better than the net. Ol' trick I actually learned on RIU as a matter of fact :)

Makes sense, sounds pretty simple and I am all for that. I am sort of inland does Cabelas have said line?

I probably have a while before I start cutting/topping and training? Depending how fast they go I was thinking probably around 2 more weeks I would start. I do plan on potting them up in a week or so. I rounded up four, three gallon pots this morning so that is what they are going to get. My box fits four nicely so I think they will be happy in there for the next few weeks. I will add another light to the box. The two on the right are the bottom cuttings and the right were the level above. They were the very bottom ones.

I will post a few pictures when the plants get a little closer. Not much else to do until they get a few weeks older. These are growing a lot faster than any of the last grows I've had, I figure around a foot or so before considering topping them. I have a few revegges going in the bloom room too and they seem to be happier than any of my past grows. by about 200 percent, greener, fuller, healthier.. I was screwing up quite a bit. I think my biggest mistake was turning them to bloom to quickly. I pulled my root balls up after my last harvest and had almost no roots..Still got a decent harvest but something was definately wrong. and it wasn't near twhat it could have been. I let the current plants veg a bit longer and have been watering/feeding way less. They are much happier. I will continue this thru the scrog grow. After reading and poking around I think this is the way to go. Gives me a reason to add on to my grow area.
