seedlings stretching... Light not to far away either.

ok so I have 1 white widow, 1 White Rhino and 1 A.M.S. All femonized.

My seedlings seem to be streching alot. They are also a very light tint of yellow.

I did use a tiny bit of advanced nutrients, I realize this may be the problem, which may solve the yellow tint problem but I cant figure out the stretching problem. I have a 400W Conversion MH probably about 5-6 inches from the tops of them. room has a constant temp of about 70-75F

If you have the answer please share. Thanks.

had same problem with some new seeds started out normal, then major stretch overnight to the point of drooping over. I stood them up with little sticks but then the light must have burnt the tips a bit. I am gonna leave mine, but next time try promix cups instead of rockwool.

This is my first grow and I've kept my light just over one inch from the top of the plants. Initially they grew quickly upward, but after about 1 inch they started to widen with the leaves.

I've read consistently to keep the light as close to them at first but not enough to damage them. i.e. Bring the light closer to the plant (Maybe use a Popsicle stick to support it ?? )

Good luck!

Well usually they stretch from low light levels. Possibly you are using an inefficient light or the light has been used and is not as bright. Sometimes they just grow tall anyways. What you want to do is if they are in small pots repot them into bigger ones with the stem buried down in the soil. Than make sure you got good light on them and also have an oscillating fan blowing on them to increaqse the strenght of your stalks.

400 watt HID - 5" or 6" from your seedlings? TOO MUCH - TOO CLOSE! Back the lights off, they're just babies!
yeah i didn't read that..cfls must be right next to the plant because they produce little heat and less light. HIDS are very hott an very intense.

hmm, wel heat isnt a problem... if anything its alittle cold in my grow room.. I make sure the temp near the plants is always around 70-75. the light cycle im using right now is 18/6, should I not be giving it 6 hours of sleep as a seedling? I was ganna go 24hrs on for the first couple weeks. But didnt know how this would effect the plant.
