Security question regarding posting photos online

Question, hope this doesn't come across as paranoid.... My GPS enabled phone embeds the location info on every picture I take. Is there a way for someone to retrieve that information from a photo after I post it online? I turned that feature off manually in my settings, but for some reason it keeps turning itself back on.

Yes...if you don't disable the geotagging then people can easily find out where you were when you took a pic that you post online...I keep my GPS totally off for just this reason...
Did you disable it under your camera settings, or the phones main settings? Because I find that android phones you have to change it in both places if it gives you 2 or 3 different places to get to the same settings, I have to set them all how I want, or it just picks and does whatever it feels like...

I would avoid taking pictures with your GPS enabled smart phone altogether. If it's not being smart for you, then it's being smart for someone else. Digital cameras are cheap these days.

I was wondering about this on my ipad. It takes great high res images, and I have had the location services turned off on the camera but they are activated for other things. I wonder if there is a way to post a benign image somewhere to check it myself? Im not entierly sure how to find out if it was geotagged or not.

Think I will refrain from taking pictures all together. Unless i need help diagnosing a problem. Was just too hard to resist on the first real grow.

You have a 4th amendment if you're in America.. If you want too get crazy you have an IP address and MAC address.. If they wanted you they will find a way to get you..
