just use ant compost and add 1/4 perlite, and 2" of pebbles in the bottom of you pots for better drainage.
what are you wanting to plant?.

I grow with Scotts soil and get great results. But I add Plant Tone Organic fert.

Thats the NPK in parts per million. its not alot AT ALL and eventually when your plants get older your going to need to feed them something more. Im using vigaro which is 24-18-6 i think. Im not sure and im not getting off my ass to look lol. There are alot of options as far as plant food and your levels of NPK will change during hte different stages of your plants life.
