Saving Private Ryan ( The movie )

Saving Private Ryan has got to be my fav WWII movie. I usually watch a military movie and within the first few minutes the factual errors just have me ready to kill. Capt. Dale Dye (USMC Retired - Oorah!) did a great job of training the actors. There were some huge factual errors in the film but it was so well made I didn't notice them until I'd seen the movie many, many times and I can still watch it and enjoy it.

I hate watching a war movie that was obviously made by someone who has no idea about anything military. Basic military courtesy is constantly taking a huge trouncing in Hollywood. How hard is it to hire someone that's been in the military and then listen to them? Usually the worst offenders are big budget movies. If I ever see John Travolta in a uniform again I will so beat his ass. OK, I'm done ranting.

You can't handle the truth.

Its better watching it with surround sound. You hear the bullets whiz past your head and hit something behind you. The first time I saw it I sat on the edge of the couch for 3 hours. One of the best war movies ever. I really didnt have a good concept of what war was until i saw this movie.
