Sand or no sand that is the question

I would like some opinions on the usage of sand in a soil grow
I'm using a recipe that by volume consists of:
60% - potting soil
15% - perlite
10% - worm castings
10% - coarse building sand
5% - organic fertilizer (using Pro-Mix ultimate organic)

This recipe worked fine with my first grow (have no complaints of using it) but I'm thinking of eliminating the potting soil as the base and replacing it with the Pro-Mix
If the op's are to dump the sand I'm going add 10% more worm castings & 5% more perlite inplace of the organic fertlizer.
Thanks for your imput.

you cant over use it, people grow full perlite even. the more aerated the better.
sorry to say but you can and alot of people do but like i said imo i used my happy frog right out the bag no perlite added just whats in it does wonders not 1 prob but people do it many diff ways this is how i do it not saying your wrong

i say, go with mostly perlite and a bit of sand...i read that the silica in the sand promotes calyx stacking, but im not 100% on that...
