Hi,

Ive read around and have seen that the general consensus is to keep the CFLS 1 - 4 inches away from plants. Does this apply for seedlings too? I am afriad they might not be able to withstand the heat.

Thanks

better safe than sorry. put the CFL maybe 3" away and you should be fine. its still a seedling, putting the cfl an inch away isnt going to make a difference than putting it 3 inches away. good luck keep us updated

I believe I keep mine < than1 inch away from my growth tips. I have a cpu fan that blows on the lights while they are on. IMO anything other than direct contact with the plants should be ok. WIth CPF the closer the better because unlike HID lights, floros loose their intensity exponentially with every inch farther away.

I put up my lights about 12 hours ago and already have seen 2-5 percent growth. Its pretty amazing, I remember reading somewhere that to a certain point, most plants grow faster in higher temperatures. So I guess there is a dual effect, heat influencing faster growth as well as extremeley high lumens. Each seedling is under 2 24w CFL 5200K. Generally speaking I think it is a little risker to keep it that close, but the reward is... accelerated growth. Thanks for all the input.
