running old filters?

So I have been hanging onto the old used filters from my runs and am building up quite the collection. My intention is to pack a tube full of these once I have enough of them. Am i fooling myself in thinking that this is even worth the effort? TIA!!

What were they filtering? My filters don't have any hash on them just impurities..
If its just filtering your wash..nah toss it
If its filters from winterizing there might be something there..you should toss it..unless you think you could effectively separate..another winterization of the collected mass...ehhh
Toss em bro
My 2¢

it seems like there is a wicking action in the filters when i run through them. They are always wet, sticky, good smelling, and stiffen up when they dry. is there really nothing left in them?

Qwizo, I gotta disagree bro. If he's using paper coffee filters, I do feel like they retain some BHO after blasting. You really think it's just plant waxes and lipids? I don't. We ARE talking BHO here, right? How can you be sure it's just impurities? Butane evaps quickly enough to leave hash residue on the coffee filters, albeit not that much, but have you personally experimented with this? What are your sources in saying it's just impurities? Not trying to come at ya, bro. Just healthy discussion, cause I was always of the opinion that some BHO was left on the filters after running a column or two. :) Though I'm no expert, and am always down to educAte myself further.

You should be pouring solvent through whether butane or iso...most blast till it runs clear, at that point the only fluid in the filter is butane..because iso is normally done in a mason jarand shook the ratio of fluid is less and some gets trapped..I prefer a pour through method
But after pouring solvent through your filter the only thing there should be nastiness

Unless you don't use these methods and you stop extracting while the goods are still coming out..in which case it will have some and you could improve your method
Try simply pouring a bit of iso through your empty filter after most of the fluid has been processed through..cleaning out any hash
If you want you could try collecting the mass from an iso wash....I wouldnt ..my filters always have a powder ring of stuff never sticky or anything of the sort

The butane coming out the end is saturating and cleaning the filter..if you purge till clear...thc does not get trapped..only particles of a certain size

See, he might have overlap on his tube, where the center of the coffee filter gets thoroughly washed, but the butane laden with BHO seeps to the edges if the filter via wicking action, and sometimes you're left with a gold ring on the outside of the filter, while the center of the filter had been washed clean.

What's your tube diameter?
fade suggests no larger than 1.25" for that very reason
I think that probly is best but you could get away with an inch and a half

that's interesting, I had never considered using a tube to do an iso wash. I've only used mason jars.

Do you get a higher quality wash that way? Also what kind of tube are you using, a straight glass tube?

1.25" tube for making BHO(butane) is what we're talking about, I believe. At least in regards to tube diameter

Well currently my method is simple inefficient fast and quality....stressing inefficient
weed goes in a mesh strainer to let iso flow through quickly separating from the herb....I pour a bottle of iso through a mesh screen that holds a couple ozs it pours all over the weed and I pour for about 10 seconds maybe less idk.....immediately hits the filter below....coffee filter with some attachment filter that supposedly removes 99.9% of crap idk

Once fluid passes through...I throw a dash of iso through the filters to pick up anything

Wastes a lot of iso...10second or less wash but still picks up efficiently.....that's nit like "show off hash" just how I normally make to toke lol

I am using a chopped down sstb for runs, and I agree the absolute center of the filter that is being actively sprayed through should be pretty clear. The filters definitely seem to wick up the oil as it is being sprayed though, they are definitely wet and sticky from past the edge of the tube all the way to the edge of the filter. I wondered if actual lab filters may be better because they probably dont have this wicking effect

So you're 10 second washing the bud, qwizo? No soak at all, just pouring it over the bud...anything left on the bud when you're done? Are you using nug or trim?

Naah they do in fact many times more so
Key is to learn how to extract efficiently

Jesus. I need a laptop, this phone is killing me. So the tube diameter of 1.25 and all that refers to BHO. The method qwizo described with pouring ISO on weed in a mesh filter is for making ISO. Sorry if it's confusing, or we're not properly distinguishing between the two.

Nope nothing....I check trichs under 100x
I typically use the whole plant not wanting to make cuts...fan leaves tossed everything that can be run whole is done so..I grow land races so that's quite a bit..top colas are ground while frozen

Lol sorry for the confusion

Makes sense in ma head:D

And yea my phone is slow as shiiiit...so kind of a delay in response
