came to take a look at this thread because i have the same problem. lenny, did you ever get a straight answer that you are going to try? mine have been in 12/12 for over a week and just started showing sex. maybe getting 2 males was a blessing for more room. i'm going with tieing and cutting.

I dont have any pics that early, but these first pictures are at 5 weeks,
the second lot were taken this morning at 7 1/2 weeks, note the pics with spiked1 RUI 28/3/2009, I'll be harvesting at around 11 weeks, they have a bit more budding to do yet.
They are African sativas, my own cross between Durban Poison and Pure Power Plant.
My times are based on the day I switched my lights to 12/12, not from when the first flowers appeared.

No it's not.
I have 2 x 400W and 1 x 600W son-T-agro bulbs in cool tubes.
I find the 100W CFL's benifit the light spectrum, there is only 2 cfl's in there.
