Day 45 (approximately) update:

DSCF8010.jpgDSCF8011.jpgDSCF8012.jpgDSCF8013.jpgDSCF8016.jpgDSCF8017.jpgDSCF8019.jpgDSCF8020.jpg

The young lady in the orange pot is about 2ft 3 and the white pot is 2ft 8. This is measured from the top of the soil, so with the pot from floor to top, the orange girl is 2ft 7 and the white pot is 3ft 4! It could become a problem if they don't stop growing as they might outgrow their space, but I don't forsee that happening.

You can see that they've both got some very nice developing budsites and towards the tops of the main cola, the nodes are starting to fill in nicely. I don't know if it's the strain but the girls aren't very leafy and that makes getting light to them much easier.

I'm currently feeding them a weekly schedule of light nutes (bio bloom and top max at 1/4-1/2 strength as well as some molasses). This feeding coincides with their watering.

Well, that's the update! What do you think??

jaaaaaysus, that's some sativa stretch you got there. Nice! :)
Thank you my friend! The breeders at Royal Queen break down the genetics as

Sativa:40% Indica: 30% Ruderalis: 30%

If, indeed, I have a pheno with a bit more sativa in it, I guess my calculations on harvest time are going to have to be adjusted! I would immagine that I'll know these girls' true intentions (if they want to finish or continue) in the next week or two. I was planning on having everything in the curing stage by the first week of November; somehow, I don't think that's gonna happen, but I'll be the last person to complain if I have to wait longer!

two of my auto grows with royal queen seeds massively exceeded expectations on height growth. reaching 5 and a half feet, indoors. it was a struggle to keep the light higher. watch out for that. :)

also harvest them within 2 weeks? no chance! lol! they look like they've got a good month, maybe 5 weeks to go! :o

RQ seems to run longer
i would pinch the main stalk this would help limit the height
or possibly lst them

my RQ royal cheese i gave it hell started with defoliation and then cut the main stalk with a razor blade vertical slits 3 times it wanted to stretch like these but instead its a ball of leaves for being in a mcdonalds cup i think its doing rather well
2013-10-17 06.19.32.jpg2013-10-17 06.19.12.jpg
and then my RQ NL 2013-10-17 06.23.08.jpg2013-10-17 06.22.24.jpg it got pinched right under the first node and then every branch got pinched
now all the nodes are perfect spaced i think its pretty much set up to be all buds

just a thought
if you have enough floor space to do it this might be the answer
if you could push the plants to one side and hang your bulb / reflector vertically then more of your plant would be getting light just a thought

yeah, I remember that last grow you had which was huge! Wasn't it a Dwarf (or maybe I'm confusing people)? Anyways, I seriously hope they don't get 5 1/2 feet because then I'm in serious trouble! But checking on them today, the buds have begun to swell and the calyxes as well so I'm hoping that the girls have decided to show off their womanhood and try to attract males rather than grow!!! I'll try to upload a photo or two of the calyxes because I've never seen them swell so much before and wanted to get another opinion on what the hell they're doing!!! Thanks for the love, by the way!

I don't think it's possible to lst them at this point...the main stalk is way too thick and the side branches aren't of major concern to me...the lst is gonna be for another grow. I don't know about pinching the main stalk (neither do I know if i'd do it right) because of their advanced stage...Iìll look into it! Alos, I had to raise the lights this afternoon becuase they are getting too close...I really have like 6-8 inches more before I'm really screwed. Regarding the vertical idea, I have to thin about how I would mount the light, as the tent isn't set up for side mounting...

does your light hang on yo-yo's if so just take the one from the left and hang it in the spot on the right or vice versa then raise it up and secure the bottom back at a angle
get creative :)
i have 2 leds a cooltube and 6 68w CFL's and 6" fan and filter and a box fan shoved in my 3x4x5 box >.< like a damn puzzle or a modern art masterpiece or something
plants are looking great bud

Are you some type of mad scientist? I would have never thought of that solution for the lights...they do hang on yo-yo's...so that idea is more than plausible...just that I'd probably have to get some more lights to make up the void from the top wouldn't I?

Here's some up close photos of the calyxes...does their swelling mean that they're about to start sprouting white hairs as well??? there are about 7 or 8 on both girls like this.

So, what do you think? Am I in for another 4 weeks of flowering?

no the plants would adjust to the light on the side since the buds are still forming they would just grow to one side like when you lst a plant flat it just adjusts to the light
basically a vertical setup but only using one side of the bulb when a true vert uses all sides

lol no mad scientist just a broke ass white boy that learned to work with nothing ;)

and ya they still have a good bit left IMO i call this stage heavy preflower i still consider it veg time myself
the the actual preflowers will do that ive had some look like what they do on the finished bud before the plant even starts to flower

cfl's even high watt ones are only effective close range like 3-6" optimum and 10" - 1' maximum distance this would get the most out of your light seeing how its 2'+ from the light to lower budsites ATM

i hang my leds this way when i use them for side lights on larger plants
almost a 70-80 degree angle not quite a 90

sorry for all the posts i had a F'd up morning and not thinking straight was in the thicket behind the house trying to track a deer in the rain for about 3.5 4 hrs and came home empty handed after all that

Maybe a setup like this?
DSCF8029.jpg

I set up the tent with the cfl in this way...put the girls a bit stagggered but close enough to the light...what do you think?

ya that could work might help if you could kinda get it almost between them and a little lower the top will still catch light
