can that light work just plugged into the socket or would I need a transformer? Do you know how much heat it generates? it's an idea...
its basically a flouro with no internal electrodes its fired by a electro magnet the two aluminum looking rings
it comes with a ballast you would have to wire a plug on it and bolt the light to a aluminum pizza pan or something for a reflector
heat is less than HPS from what ive heard its in the large cfl range

this is a retrofit kit for a hps

if you where to buy it in a fixture for growing purposes it would be around 400-1000 bucks from the ones i looked at

the 80w is supposed to be a replacement for a 175w MH or a 200w hps
100 lumens / watt
supposedly the closest thing to sunlight

I don't know...I could try it but I think the misses might get a bit angry when I burn down the entire house in an electrical fire....

>.< lol look at the pics on ebay
the wires are nice neat and appear to be hooked up nicely / safely already
just needs a plug ;)

if u got the cash and willing to spend it

http://www.amazon.com/Apollo-Horticulture-GLK1000CTAC-Digital-Dimmable/dp/B006K5AJOG

for the light system
and this bulb
http://www.amazon.com/Hortilux-Eye-Super-Blue-1000W/dp/B0027Z2G4Y

that is what i wish i got myself ...............the bulb is a dual arc both specs at once it will be prefect for autos .........and the hood will cover the area great the only bad part they never include enought nutz to build it ............u will need a 12 pack of 8/32 nuts

really thinking about that light...it seems like it uses a lot less electricity and covers a lot of area and also simulates natural sunlight much better...only thing is that I have to make sure the ballast is suited for 220/40 volts...
if so, i think i'll try it on an auto and if all goes well then a photo...(you see I'm already making plans!!!)

Thanks Ugh I appreciate the links but the first system also included the bulbs...so why would I need the other bulb...unless you're saying that the hortilux is a superior bulb...let me know...the system you showed is within the pricerange that I've seen but the addition of the third makes life a bit more complicated!!!

the other bulb is a speical one

it is a dual arc
MH 400w and HPS 600w ................all in the same bulb ............as auto like a mix of both lights this is the most effective way to supply it with out need of a secondary light like i have

if u look into major growers ........they use the HID lights to get the buds but they always add in some Blue light to increase the over all dankness of the buds

i honestly dont know if a cool tube will fit in his box
thats why i was suggesting something else

@ panic i did find a comment from a distributor of the induction lights said they need to be enclosed in a reflector
to be effective they suffer a lumen drop if air movement cools them to much but the heat output is less than 1/4 of a hps from the way he explained it

well, i have a new box which is 160 cm tall and 90cm wide and deep, so a cool tube just might fit now....I asked the distributor about the wattage and he said it's rated 120-270 so it'll be fine to use...I'll have to consider first a cool tube which would be overall probably less complicated than the induction light...we'll see!!!

ah, i see...i haven't even looked at the total width of the cool tube...that induction system is looking even better by the minute!!!

check out over all dimensions on some of the vented square hoods they take up less space sometimes

okay...well the lights are going to have to wait anyway until these little girls have matured...they might be a christmas present for myself! I would rather spend wisely and have something I can use for a long time then buy something which I'll just change out in the end. I measured the specs on the smaller cool tube system and I shouldn't have any problems as long as I'm not trying to grow a jungle! For now, until I have the money, I'll keep with what I have, which is probably not the best but has worked for me so far...a 200W CFL Agro bulb!

I wanted to update with some pix as well...Strechy has held true to her name and stretched tremendously in the three days...she's about a foot tall now. Stumpy isn't nearly as stumpy and she's about 9 inches. I really am just guessing on the height..I haven't gone as far as to measure them. Here's some picks. The time from sprout would be about 4 weeks, which is right on schedule:

DSCF0345.jpgDSCF0344.jpg Stumpy's on the left and stretchy's on the right. The photos are a bit misleading as stumpy is in a smaller pot. In the box, I have raised her to compensate for the height difference and also so the light will be horizontal. Here's some close-up pix...they are both starting to increase the white pistils in a lot of different nodes!!!

and, just a picture of both of them side by side:

I just wanted to let you guys know about Royal Queen and give them a bit of rep as well...a couple of months ago, I had sent them an email regarding an ungerminated Easy Bud which I had...I just wanted to let them know that it didn't ever germinate and I was bit disappointed...enough...I wasn't asking for anything in return and even bought other seeds from them (of which this thread is the result). The other day, I get an email from them telling me that they want their customers to be 100% satisfied and they would send me a new Easy Bud seed as compensation!!!:-P Story short, the seed arrived today five days after their email!!!

herbies replaced 5 reg seeds with fem's
i had 4 out of 5 fail to germ and had to actually crack one with hemo's to get it to germ
i told them that 4 out of 5 in that pack were not "collectable" key word there remember it , if you say they failed to germ they will ignore your email
and they sent me 5 fem royal queens 3 NL's and 2 royal cheese's plus my freebies put it this way like 2-3 custom's tapes later i just kept adding to the order and they kept throwing freebie's in >.< ended up with 11 NL's and 9 RC's
and i only ordered reg little kushy's 5 pack , and reg kc-45 two ten packs so 45 bucks or so and i salvaged one little kushy mutant >.<

I hear ya about the indiscriminate and indirect talk about what happened to the seeds...i've read many posts where Attitude doesn't respond to emails with vocabulary like germination, etc and with good reason! they are selling seeds in England, where growing cannabis is prohibited...but Royal Queen is out of Holland and they don't care about vocab or don't have to worry about laws...as a result, they responded to my simple email with a customer service that one could only dream of! It's a little reason I try to only deal with breeders and not resellers, but sometimes the resellers have such great deals that I go through them...it's kind of an addiction of mine trying to get seeds of different strains and then growing them...and if I can get them for free like through attitude...well, hell yeah!

Well, I thought an update would be in order after about a week...the girls are really starting to grow! They got a light feeding of BioBizz Grow and I also started BioBizz Bloom nutes, both on about a 1/4 of the suggested amount. I don't know if it's the nutes or the fact that they are starting to flower or both but every other morning I have to raise the lights so that they won't hit them when I get back from work! Here are some pics:

These are the two sisters side by side...I've placed the stumpier one on a shoebox so that the tops are even and the light doesn't have to be staggered.

DSCF8001.jpg

Here's the stumpier girl, who's also showing more pistal growth and the nodes are a bit tighter:
DSCF8002.jpgDSCF8003.jpg DSCF8004.jpgDSCF8006.jpg

And here's the stretchier girl...
DSCF8007.jpgDSCF8008.jpgDSCF8009.jpg

Both are about a foot and a half tall with stretchy being maybe 20 inches...I would guess they have a couple of days left for vertical vegetative growth before they start concetrating on the flowers...this grow is a far cry from my first Dwarf grow, that's for sure!

Let me know what you guys think! Comments, suggestions and advice is always welcome!

NICE!!
youve learned well grasshopper >.<
they will really explode in the next few days you may want to think about some LST i dont know what your vertical height is but if its going to be an issue in the future you might want to start now before the stalk hardens up
