Root Bound Question

Hey smokers, Ive got 9 plants that i've had in 1 gallon pots for a while. I finally got the money for 7 gallon pots and fox farm soil. So i went to go transplant them and they had root bound.

SO MY QUESTION IS. Will they still grow bigger that i've transplanted them. Or is they stunned for their life? If so, anyone got tips or tricks to fix it?

no doubt, it will make a huge difference. when do you plan to flip to 12/12? since you went from such a small container to the bigger ones it would be best to add s few more weeks on to how long you were planning imo.

Cut the root ball this will promote new growth to develope alot faster than just leaving it to find its new found space!!

They're gonna love it, try to keep the soil as a unit when transplanting. Water before hand helps and plant them deeper. Water good and sit back and watch em grow...Definitely pull the roots around the outside loose before putting in new dirt.

just remember to tease/untangle the bottom of the root ball, this will stop the roots from growing around in circles and send the roots down.

If you don't untangle the rootball the roots WILL NOT spread into the new soil. I learnt that the hard way once, now I use Airpots, no chance of getting rootbound now (my plants are about 5 foot tall in 10L containers, I think that roughly 2 gal?).

IMHO 9x7 gallon pots is huge. Really, unless you're using 3000 watts it's a waist of time. I want my plants root bound by the middle of flowering since you don't need anymore roots, you want the energy to go into bud production. More soil doesn't equal more yield, using more than 2 1/2 gallons of soil per 100 watts is an absolute waste of time and money, so if I'm using a 1000 watt, that's a total of 25 gallons of dirt, more than enough to yield the maximum. 25 gallons of dirt can grow 2 lbs of dried product. You're growing in almost 3 times that much and it will result in wispy huge bush's that use all of it's energy on producing branches and leaves, will take 3 months to flower, and if you're not using 3000+ watts will produce a huge amount of nothing. People who've grown out mothers know what I'm talking about. Plus the amount of liquid used to water a 63 gallon grow is enormous and the root system might not be able to transfer the solution out of the giant pots quickly enough resulting in root rot. If you're using 3000+ watts great, but if you're only using 1000 to grow 9 plants with huge veg times in 63 gallons of soil, it's a horrible idea.
