Room Temp Sensor Location?

I'm new to this and tried to search the topic and didn't find the answer, so thanks in advance for any input.

I have a closet grow and I'm trying to keep the temp in line. I'm noticing some pretty big variations in the reading depending on where I put the sensor. I thought at first I'd put the sensor right on the hydroton since that's right where the plant is. I'm finding that the temps are consistently around mid- to upper 80s there...a little warmer than I think is ideal. But if I put the sensor anywhere else, it's upper 70s at most, which I think is probably a good temp. Should I ignore the higher temp over the hydroton, or is that really the temp that matters? Thanks.

Try putting it as close to the plants as possible, possibly on the plant pot. Add a few degrees to make up for the shade of the plants

Thanks. Damn. That's what I was thinking would be most accurate, but also the one which gives me the highest temp. It's just strange, the closet and the grow tent itself doesn't feel hot at all, if anything just comfortable. But like I said, I put the sensor right on the hydroton, next to the plant, and the temp is a good 10 degrees or so more than the temp anywhere else. Oh well. I just bought a new Vortex-style fan and I'm experimenting on what kind of airflow can keep things in line.

I like to put mine as close to the tops as I can get because in flowering the tops are closest to the light and that is the hottest part.

What I did was hang my probe from my hood. It's the distance I keep the light from the plants so the probe is always at the top of the plants

I don't care that much, I have my sensors all in the same place, mid way up the pole of my flower tent, about the same level as the canopy. It's 78F, 58%RH in there right now.

I know it's 6 years later...but if you "don't care that much," then why the hell even bother posting a comment?! Some people man!
