Did you seriously describe Reagan as a true believer?
I do think Reagan's ultimate concern was for the future of the country, as was Carter's. No, I do not think everything he did was gilded in gold. Shit, my family lost our house during Reaganomics (tightening of the belts).
On the other hand, how long do you think it takes for any kind of stimulus to have a real effect on the economy? Do you really think the prosperity of the 90's was a creation of Clinton and Greenspan? I would argue that our economic growth has been at least partly the result of seeds planted in the mid '80s.

You're still not getting it. Reagan's tax cuts had an IMMEDIATE effect on the economy. HE WRECKED IT. 3 trillion dollar deficit from a supposedly fiscal conservative republican. Because he lowered taxes, but didn't cut spending.

REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS ARE LIARS. They both believe in big government, paid for thru deficit financing. Republicans have simply convinced everyone that they are conservative. Democrats have convinced everyone they are liberal. They are the same: ensuring the rich stay rich and the poor stay poor.

Ron Paul's chances = 0% (in the foreseeable future)
Kucinich has a hot wife, so I rate his chances at .00000000000000000000001%

But who knows, Perot got more than 20% of the popular vote in 92, and if he didn't drop out of the race, ya never know

Ron paul's communicating has got alot better. He has always had great ideas, but the way he sold them made him come off like a coook. I think he might have a chance in the next election if he can get alot of PR in.

No one with sane fiscal policy will ever go further then their name on the ballot due to electronic voting machines.

Ron Paul has no conception of the global political realities and is a foolish isolationist. As much as I might agree with him on size of government, I know he would preside over the downfall of America and I could never be persuaded to vote for him.
Ron Paul is NOT an isolationist. To say he is, means you do not know what he stands for. He is a non interventionist.

"preside over the downfall of America" LMAO
If Congress had listened to him in 2002 we wouldn't be in this financial crisis.
July 16, 2002 http://www.house.gov/paul/congrec/congrec2002/cr071602.htm

last two sentences
"
Mr. Speaker, it is time for Congress to act to remove taxpayer support from the housing GSEs before the bubble bursts and taxpayers are once again forced to bail out investors misled by foolish government interference in the market. I therefore hope my colleagues will stand up for American taxpayers and investors by cosponsoring the Free Housing Market Enhancement Act."

I would love to hear your spin on why Ron Paul would lead to the downfall of America. :joint:

ron paul needs to run for president
Ron Paul ran for president in 2008 , where were you ? I met him in Phillie , i even was given time to speak with him.I like him a lot.He wants to end the fed , bring the troops home and look after our own troubles rather than our foreign neighbors.
Oh...and he wants to decriminalise MJ.
He may or may not run again in 2012 , his son Rand is making a bit of a splash in the political pool and getting the same ignorant responses from the media, twisting his words to make him something he isnt.

Ron Paul would never win as the President... I would love for him to be a VP though.

In the late 90s Ron Paul also predicted 9/11 happening. He didn't say "they will hit the twin towers, pentagon, etc." but he did say that the way we meddled in countries thousands of miles away, specifically in a region just ready to fight back (the middle east) that something big would eventually happen.
Also, in a republican debate, before McCain was given the republican vote, he was also the only one out of 8 people who said that to a certain extent, american politicians brought 9/11 upon ourselves. Of course everyone else on stage jumped all over him for it, but he was the only guy who had the balls to at least recognize that we did poke the hornets nest and expected nothing to happen.
