RIU being censored or did i miss some rule?

My sig was deleted and i got a PM saying "I've deleted your signature. Please don't put any link like that here again."

If i remember correctly my sig was something like "everybody should watch this" and a link to "how the towers fell", a lecture by an engineer and architect analysing the structures. No crazy conspiracy theory.

So my question is, did i miss some rule about this, has anything changed lately (havnt been here much in months)?

I dont really care much about the link itself, more just the fact that it was deleted and getting a message saying "dont put any link like that here again". Why the hell cant i post a link like that?

I think there's a rule that says "no outside links" so that could be the problem. It would probably be more helpful if they told you why though.

I know there are moderators, but since when do they decide what is allowed to be said and what not, aka censorship. And im not talking about making sure everything stays in order and keeping language respectable.

that seems a bit odd........

There are a few more prominent members of this forum with outside links on their signatures why did this guy get singled out?

I think someone got pissed because of what the link was, for whatever reason, and deleted his........if thats the case that is sensorship and the moderators should go ahead and work on deleting every outside link......

The moderators are questionable at best.
you know im not goin to go one about that but you're right.

A lot of the banning seems to be based on emotion and they seem to just ban someone or close a thread that they just don't agree/get along with.

Most of them are good, I have seen 1 or 2 unnecessarily close threads and ban people though

Threads get closed when inappropriate, spam, etc. Users get banned when underage, or the infractions add up, or if the user joined just to troll threads. There are rules that moderators follow, and there are guidelines that are clearly defined when you join to the site.

Mods are not randomly going around and closing threads they have opinions against, and they are not banning members for no good reason.

Either way, everything is in the rules... When we catch someone breaking the rules, we resolve the issue, and when someone reports another member breaking the rules, we handle it. Aside from that we like to post and chat :)

Censorship! Are you kidding me? Rollitup owns the site he employs whoever he sees fit to run the site. I personally believe it is one of the best sources of information for new and experienced growers. If you don't like the way the site is ran don't post here! This thread just takes up space where something useful could be. Enough said!

why have mods in the first place. this is a site for growing. why bother???
132,681 members here. We have to delete tons of spam threads, ban the spammers, we have to keep track of the infractions so that members are not abused by other members. We also need to handle problems with shady characters who may try to rip off forum members. There is a reason why we have mods... Use your head buddy
