So this is the first time Ive ever had mother plants and I could use some knowledge from those of you more experienced with this. The purple kush is recovering well, and the hindu skunk is good because I didnt take clones from her, but the green crack isnt growing new shoots it only grows from the tops. Is this normal? Did I clone the wrong way? Help me out here fellas.
IMG_2100.jpgIMG_2101.jpgIMG_2102.jpg

about half of my clones from the green crack and purple kush made it and only two of the wonder woman are barely hanging on. Ive tried cloning these twice now and have had little luck. Ive heard some strains arent very good for cloning so maybe this is one of those. I seem to have better results with the clones I take with thicker stems. Anyone else have similar results?

Heres the sad looking wonder woman leftovers

In the flower area Im still seeing hooked leaves after the two day flush but Ill give them more time to recover. Im lowering their feeding ppm some now as I think that they might be overfertilized. Not for sure but less is more until I get things right in here. I also went to two waterings a day instead of three cause the were a little wet. Overall they dont look bad but defenitely not perfect. Still getting buds quickly and thickening nicely.

Down at my hydro shop everyone has been using what they call the "sauce". Its a concoction of plant hormones that slow growth quickly at week 3 of flower (recommended application time) and intensify bud production. Everyone that has used the sauce swears by it and wont grow w/out it now. So I added it in with my ph'd ro water to flush this week for two days. The application time varies from 2 days to a week depending on who you ask, so Im starting off easy to try it out.

Lookin good Bro. Day 23, hell yea :) I have the best results when with cloning when the stems aren't too big and the cutting is short. They seem to root faster anyway.

root riot cubes, a tray/dome, some superthrive, and a spray bottle are all you need for clones with roots in 10-14 days. Keep at 75-80 on 18/6 to 24/0.

Edit: & clonex lol

pretty much the same as what I did exept for I used rockwool and added roots solution from humboldt nutes with clonex gel. So pretty much not the same:)

Bro, IMO I think your leaf clawing is due to slight over watering mostly. Also what are you running your Ph at, and are you checking it daily? A lower than desired Ph can cause the leaf tips to point down in my experience.

Looks like you might have been slightly over-nuting them a bit but now after the flush they should be fine. Actually you might want to add a little N to your mix here and give them a good blast for a few days since you're about halfway though flower. The look a little light to me, but otherwise good.

As far as the cloning goes, I think you'll find that if you take your cuts from the lower areas of the plant, and also from much newer shoots (skinnier stems), that your success rate will improve. It looks like you took cuts with some thick ass stems, and they usually don't root as well cause the amount of auxins that contributes to rooting is much lower in the thicker stems and the higher-up areas of the plant.

Try to take cuts from a skinny-stemmed branch lower down on the plant, and then try to keep some more leaves on it when you do. Make your cut at a 45 degree angle, make a few light slices on one side of the stem by where you made your cut, and then dip it in rooting gel (I use Roottech cause it has the highest amount of IBA available) and place it directly into the grow plug. Then put the plug into your matching tray with a dome, mist, and voila!

Make sure to mist at least once a day with Ph'd distilled water (6.6) and keep em moist but not wet.

Oh also don't feed your moms any N at all for at least 7 solid days before you take your cuts. The absence of N helps them root MUCH more quickly and effectively.

I have roots in 7-10 days this way.

My watering schedule has been already cut back. I had the same thought on that. My ph is constantly checked and always holds 5.7 to 5.9 so that should be ideal for hydro.

You hit the nail on the head DC I went down to the shop last night and figured out that the bud candy that I was using is junk. I was under the impression that it was the same as using carbo load and sweet, but come to find out that the bud candy also contains micro and macro nutes which the others do not. So this with the regular feeding regime I was running was a bit of an overkill I think. Last night they got a small flush again and fresh nute mix today with carbo carbo load and sweet insteasd of the bud candy. Hopefully my plants recoverquickly and are happy with the change.

Do you use rockwool plugs? Ill try the smaller stems next time from lower down.

Do you think such a high ph should be used when growing hydro? Ive been using the usual 5.8. Could be the problem.

Great knowledge here DC Ill apply it next round for sure. Thanks for all the help.

Thank you........................

Might try aero cloning if I cant make this work but for now Im stickin with the dome.
It is an easy way to clone, but actually got roots faster in coco. I used clonex, full power, Algen extract, b-1, root excel, great white and 1/4 strength a/b. I let the mix sit in the coco overnight before cutting the clones. Roots in 7-8 days.

I just use rooting gel and properly Ph'd distilled water, and mine root in 10 days or less. All that extra stuff just costs $$$.

True, but I have never been able to transplant a clone in 8 days until I started using this concoction. I have had bumps at 10 days, but never transplantable roots. Hey but whatever works for you is what you should use. This is just what works the best for me.:):joint:

Very well done quickrip! I am glad you stopped by and invited me to your grow.
I am noticing that you are thinking of aero-cloning. I highly recommend you do so! I have an ez-cloner and think its pretty amazing. I follow the instructions listed with the unit and have 100% success rate and roots in 7 days every time with no dome and no anti wilt.
my feeding is: Clonex 1tsp in reservoir
5 drops of superthrive
Clonex gel for root tips.
Ph 6.2
I have used roots gel by Technaflora and had the same results. I have also added LK by Botanicare with the same results. When I clone I always split the tip down the middle to expose more surface area for roots to form. I do this before the root dip with a razor. I see around 2-3 times more root growth when I do this. I also cut a few of the larger fan leaves in half.

What would be even better is to save yourself the money and just build one. They are very simple to make. If you don't want to build one, then a 30 site can be bought for under $240 and is so easy to maintain and clone in.
Meanwhile Im going to peep this thread!

For now Ive spent so much getting the room where it is I just cant buy anything else. Maybe soon. Plus I also bought all the essentials for cloning in rockwool and would just simply like to overcome the challenge of making it happen with what Ive got. Stubborn sob.

I hear ya! I did my cloning in rockwool for the first year and had great success too.

Split down the middle eh? Interesting, I might have to try that...

I got the idea from Jorge Cervantes' book "Marijuana Horticulture". I thought the procedure seemed reasonable about exposing more surface area and tried it out. I spilt half down the middle and the other half I left alone. I had explosive root growth on the ones split down the middle although they all rooted the same time in my ez-cloner. I have duplicated the results many times and the ones with the split always have more roots. If you decide to split and put into a medium like rapid rooters or rockwool I would be extra careful when putting them into the medium so you don't rip the split apart further.
