Businesses firing thousands of people and going to other nations where there is no min wage. Companies like Apple.
Well thats a bigger problem in and of it self isnt it. Fair labor practices around the world would be nice but I am more concerned about my homefront. I mean its not like workers arent dieing from bad work conditions, but you aren't mad that OSHA exists. Why the problem with minimum wage ensuring a fair/living wage (which it doesn't atm but whose fucking fault is that) for working people but you are fine with those OSHA cronies pushing businesses around making them spend big money to be "safe" *SARCASM*

I believe a person can exist soley on a minimum wage 40 hr a week job , ya might be living in a 1 room apt or weekly hotel & eating ramen & oatmeal 3 times a day but survive you will .

If you have unrealistic expectations & think ya get a 5 bdrm house with pool & gardens from minimum wage your in for a rude awakening .

Minimum wage is meant to be just enough to survive while you use the current low pay job as a stepping stone to higher paying work .

It also shows ones willingness to work vs welfare & weeds out the loosers who think low pay work is too good for their unskilled labor .

I know working more than 40 is a must if I want to be putting some into retirement and still have some fun. But I kinda accept that because I want more I must work more. I pay 1150 for the 3 bd duplex I live in with nothing but water and sewage included. My bank account wouldn't amaze but I am doing alright, own my car, not piled up to my eyes in debt like some I know. And I have never had to take a dime of gov't assistance in food stamps or welfare.

LOL I make 14 an hour and consider myself doing pretty well. My roommate is making 10.50. We live in a 3 bd duplex and I grow in the spare and basement. Nothing big just enough for us and a couple friends, so no big profits from that and we only just got our 1st harvest at this place. Yeah we weren't eating steak every night but we did fine.

and maybe you don't think it was meant to be a living wage but the president who saw it into action did so I think his opinion kinda trumps yours don't you think?

FDR didn't think it should be a living wage, but a decent living wage.

“By living wages, I mean more than a bare subsistence level — I mean the wages of a decent living.” FDR from your own link

So not just a car, but a new car, and an average sized home(2600 sq ft), vacations each year, a college education AND Good health insurance (How much does yours cost and how good is it?) That would be a decent living right?

If your roommate stops paying rent, you have no problem making the mortgage payment right?

So you have a $190,000 house, a $32,000 car. (those are the averages) Just those alone on a 30 yr mortgage at 4% interest is about $900 a month, and a really long 6 year loan for the new car at 2% interest would be a monthly payment of $472, figure in food and restaurants $300 a month. Utilities another $300, health insurance another $200 a month. Home and auto insurance another $150 a month. So thats like $2320 a month and you haven't even bought furniture or even have a cell phone. A decent living right?

So a person working 40 hours a week at min wage takes home about $240 a week. Lets see 240x4 = $960. Whoops, looks like FDR's idea really sucks ass, you can barely make the mortgage payment, and thats not even including property tax. Sorry, you have to either share a crappy 1 room apartment in a crowded and unsafe neighborhood, or buy a used car and forgo eating out or having cable TV or going on vacations to Europe like people who make a decent living do.

Only By the Grace of doG do people making minimum wage even survive, let alone more than a bare subsistence level. If it wasn't for the charity of others and black markets, these people would not survive.
Min wage is not a living wage, that's why it is rarely defined as such.

In China the the average worker makes $900 a month.

ANd look at what happened.

$7.25 an hour won't even pay for a good used car.

Im confused how me liking guns but not supporting the nra is the same as rtw. I dont like the work they do politically or I would pay dues to them. That is my point. Im not forced to join the nra to own a gun nor are you forced to join a union to habe a job. Never has been the case never will. As I said befofe if politicians cared more about the people they serve than their own financial interest unions wouldnt be necessary.
If you work in a non-RTW state and work for a unionized company, you pay union dues whether you want to or not. If the union contributes to the hair care fund for Al Sharpton, and the fund to pay for Hillary's first class airfare to her $300K speaking engagement, and Bill's pedophilia adventures, you just suck it up and pay, Bitch.

In a RTW state you don't have to join a union or pay dues if you don't want to, or you object to the way the union spends money.

You like guns but you don't like the NRA, so you don't join the NRA. You like to earn a living but you don't like the local union, so you don't join the union.

Get it?

Surprise! You are a supporter of the philosophical concept of right to work, as is everybody else who believes in freedom.

Unions need to sell a better product and not be such corrupt SOBs, then they might convince a growing part of America to join up. I would consider joining a union if they weren't run by goons and in bed with the likes of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

I genuinely Believe that Barack Obama is a good president, better than Bush, but also caught between a rock and a hard place.

is that the reason I did not see you on the farm today. Some old man had me milk some cows
I don't have cows to milk. The reason farmers get up so early is so that there will be daylight left to enjoy oneself after all the chores are done. I enjoy shooting at paper targets and have built my self a 1600 Meter Range. Today was a really nice day to get some nice dope on some of my new reloads I worked up for my Remington 700 heavy barrel .308 ( akin to a M24 Sniper Weapon System). Got 5 rounds to land within 4.2" of each other at 1200 meters. Looks like a winner for those.
