Relocating to San Diego to grow legally, have question about $$$$

Clearly he isn't here yet, I live here. I am encouraging him to come and assuring him that he has someone to do business with. That is the point of his post right? He's growing legally right? Where is the issue?

Just because I'm new to the board doesn't mean I'm a cop. I was browsing and his post is the one that engaged me enough to sign up and comment, it's that simple. Uptight much? Some of you need better meds!

Honestly what sense would it make for a copper to try to frame someone who "might" be moving here to grow LEGALLY?
Lmao
like I said before...

Quick question.. Currently in NY and relocating to San Diego, Is it worth me growing out there? I am currently getting $4000 per lb and was wondering if the prices were the same out there? Can you just sell it to Dispen's and how much do they rape you for it per pound or would it be wiser just to sell to med patients? I grow the strains OG Kush (the real deal) White widow from greenhouse seeds, Super Silver haze and Blueberry .. 12 years experience so not worried out people "outgrowing me" Just want a little info on how to get started. I have been contemplating moving for a couple of years and finally decided to within the next 3 month so i have enough time to get my affairs in order.. Please no neg comments... P.s. Will be doing everything by the law and INDOORS
Don't worry about being outgrown. If you can grow good stuff, there is a market for it here in cali! I'd suggest you sell to patients as some of the dispensaries will say you have shwag and quote you a lower price. Even if you have it tested (which costs a lot of $$$), they will still quote you a lower price. You will have to go through a LOT of dispesaries b4 you find the right one. Good luck!!

Of course now that the dispensaries are closing, I hope you have your black market contacts in place. :D

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Quasi legal or not. Local LEO still tries to bust people.

Yeah, New York Grower moving 3000 miles trying to tap into the Pot game when you are already collecting $4k n elbow where you are. Don't really get the logic. In the 90's Californians were trying to give New Yorkers safe access to Mexican Dirt weed $1k an elbow. Those were the days, right..?

The logic is NY = get sent to prison, CA = hopefully don't if you're growing within the 'legal' limits... not sure why that's hard for californians to understand it wasn't THAT long ago it was full black market there. Not to mention but outside of the west coast the same level of pot culture is non existent. I can get more than 4 but local PD are dieing to put me in jail if they could found me out. Every pot grower they put away here is potential career advancement for them here.

Oh... so his motive is to prevent jail time after many years of growing in New York. That makes sense to some extent. Whatever the reason, I wish him success.

I don't know what his reason was but your question is why would someone give up $4k in NY to move to a saturated market in Cali... that's one reason :)

^^This. Stay where ever you are, shovel it at NYC, and get paid. We're already struggling out here with too many band-wagoners.
In one thread you want people to not come to CA, in another you want someone to give you (an unknown with 12 posts) the forum cut... Do you not see a little irony in the statement: "We're already struggling out here with too many band-wagoners" ;)

Maybe it's not that he doesn't want to shovel it in NYC but that he doesn't want to end up bustin' rocks.

Well the thing is that if you are really growing enough to make a living at it, a real living... rent, savings, retirement plan, the works... then you are already growing outside limits and are going to be busting rocks if they catch you. People (not you, Reef) seem to think that Ca has some magical formula that keeps the DEA away. When the truth is that the feds can prosecute you for ANY amount, and the case does not have to be given to them by the local DA. Any cop can call his "buddy" at the DEA and let them know about your grow. After that it's up to the local US attorney and the DEA as to whether or not they go after you. And if you wind up in federal court for ANY amount, you are not allowed to use your state med MJ laws as a defense. You are not even allowed to MENTION it. The local LEO's may not bug Subcool (Just as an example because we all have seen most of his grow. Just imagine what he doesn't show on camera!) because he has his legal ducks in a row, but there is NOTHING protecting him from a pissed off US attorney.

Ca is not as safe as people think it is. This is why I always tell people to grow like it's 1995! (Or like you live in Texas)

That's true and I'm amazed he is as out as he is because I wouldn't put it past the feds to target him.

There are also local dickhead cops who'll fuck with you no matter what states laws are... you'd probably get off in court but you'd still have to go through everything associated... i'd rather be busted in CA than where I am now though ;)

Oh absolutely! If I lived in a harsh state I would probably be looking at moving, too.

I also wonder about people like Moonshine from RD seeds. He posts his big grows online, too. I wonder if people like him and Sub have lawyers that have everything so wired tight that the feds don't bother with them, if they make payoffs, or if they are just lucky.

I don't think it matters how lawyered up you are if the feds want to come after you. I know he's got a real good lawyer that knows the ca mj laws inside and out and follows the state guidelines... i'm guessing he's just not really on their radar at the moment although it could be he's enough of an icon maybe they think it'd be bad press... tho that doesn't seem to be something they cared about before :) IMO the feds definitely could go after him any time based on the seed business... how are attitude and hempdepot getting the seeds??? would seem they're crossing national and state borders that makes it federal -- i'm just happy they're not :)

if the wrong person wins the next national election we may see that change

I don't think it's going to matter who wins the next election. Everyone thought Obama would keep his promise about MMJ and he didn't. Also, I do think that he has little to do with many of the decisions about when and who to bust. As long as the rules are followed a US attorney can direct the DEA to bust anyone they want. My bet is that Obama doesn't know anything about 99% of the busts that happen. Of course who a pres appoints to positions can surly affect us.

And to bring it back to San Diego, it is the US attorney Melinda Haag (who was appointed by Obama) who is from SD that is behind a bunch of the busts. She hates MJ. San Diego is a really bad place to be if you're a grower. Also, they are pretty tight knit down there... the term "Locals Only" comes to mind.

Well it CAN make a difference, that doesn't mean it will... I really disagree with obama on a lot of things politically and think he is a dick for not keeping his MMJ promises, BUT I think he could've definitely gone harder.... as you said, presidents main power is in their power of appointment, and they can very much appoint people whose priorities align with theirs... they also serve at the leisure of the president and he can demand their resignation if he does not agree with their actions (even if lawful). That's why I don't buy a lot of people's explanation that Obama can't change what the DEA does... he very much can through both executive order and appointments. If he issues an executive order saying those things are lowest priority and that they are not to override state law unless ordered by the presiden to do so, they have no choice. If the head of the DEA tells his people you will not go after medical MJ people, they have no choice -- they can do it but they can be fired for disobeying orders. The President is chief executive and when it comes down to it what he says ultimately goes it's a matter of how much he wants it. If it were O's priority to keep his promise, he could. It is not his priority. If it were the priority of the next president, we could definitely see MASSIVE raids across the country. I would fully expect that if someone like Ted Cruz or Rick Santorum became president... the DEA are more than happy to go balls to the wall against medical people even small timers if given the go ahead.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.
I'm sorry, I was trying to impress you. I don't know what it means. I'll be honest, I don't think anyone knows what it means anymore. Scholars maintain that the translation was lost hundreds of years ago.

Stay classy, San Diego!
