Relationship Issues.

To put it bluntly, my girlfriend wants me to stop smoking Mary-Jane.

I, on the other hand, obviously don't want to. I just don't want to have to snoop around and lie about it all. I mean, if she found out I had been smoking it after I said I wouldn't, then that would be the end of us no doubt. I know for a fact I certainly don't want to throw her away for some herb.

I mean, I just don't feel it's right that she makes me stop just because she doesn't like it.

Has anybody else encountered issue such as this one?

If she can't except you for everything you are then you are not meant to be and things will only get worse with time.

Seriously, after awhile you'll get to the point where you'll get that shit cleared up at the beginning of each relationship before you let it even get far. Think about it this way, if she's willing to throw you away because you smoke pot, are you sure you really want to be with her?! don't answer that right away, think about it for a bit. Fuck ride or die, she's talking about just something that annoys her is reason to leave, thats definitely not worth quitting for when you can find someone else that won't care.

If it were a chronic issue and she feels you're addicted then yes you should consider it. If it's just because she finds it annoying and is willing to leave you over it? It's not about your pot smoking. She's going to leave you anyway. Pot is just an excuse.

She hasn't mentioned leaving me at all. She's just clearly stated that she does not like marijuana on a whole. If that makes sense?
All I'm saying is, if I agree to not smoke it anymore (which I could easily do, I'm honestly not addicted), then I all of a sudden did, it would make the situation a lot worse because it wouldn't be about the drug anymore, it would be about the fact that I lied to her.

been there before man wasn't worth it there are plenty other fish in the sea who love mary j. i personally believe if there's someone who tries to change me then it's not worth it period. Did you smoke before you were in the relationship?

lol man then i have to agree with 420

realistically, if you don't intend on quitting ( and i mean lets face it who can do that? ), and she doesn't approve, things will get worse. Practically anything used as a coverup will rear its ugly head later in the form of trust issues

First You stop smoking, then Cussing, then you have to starting singing & tap-dancing, the shit don't end until the thumb has crushed any joy that you may have had. With this lifestyle, nobodies happy. First mistake is trying to change somebody. Any Human relationship, Employer/Employee, Wife, Friend, Family, there is always one of two things that will happen, either they will build You Up or or drag You down. But You have to ask Yourself, (Do You feel lucky, Punk?) No, not that. Is the Pot dragging the relationship down, via work, social shit, etc. You don't want to be the dragging down person. For Folks that want to change and/or drag Me down, I give them 2 choises. #1. Out the Door, or #2. Out the window... Either is fine with Me.

You smoked before you met her and she started dating you anyway, now she wants you to stop? Do you love her? Are you going to marry her? If the answer is not yes to both then no point in quitting for her.

The only possible problem here is the ideal lifestyle between the two of you which you have to think about. One lifestyle seems laid back and enjoying pot and one seems to be more organised and with it thats propably the issue here. Am I right?

Now shes got to come to terms with why she doesn`t want you to smoke pot. For starters if she can`t even handle you smoking a little bit its time to stomp your foot on the ground and establish your point. Don`t let this get into a matter of "you don`t quit because you don`t love me" because that can be said both ways! Relationships end all the time because of changes in career, lifestyles, employment abroad etc its not your fault if this happens your just doing your thing like every other person in this world.

So its most propably the fact that your lazy and don`t have the enthusiasm or a magical something shes looking for when your high. What you need to think about is your lifestyle and how much pot you actually want to smoke for how long. What she has to do is come to terms with what you choose and her expectations.

Don`t let her focus on the idea of pot itself, its just a herb. Get her to focus on what she doesn`t like it doing to you and figure out which way to tackle this there on. Just grouping this whole thing under "I dislike pot" seems to me like 3 words trying to explain a lot of things too simply.

And don`t worry, shes not the only girl in the world either... And your not the only bloke...

P.s you might want to cut down on the habit a little to figure things out better. Just to get a view on sober vs high while having these conversations with her too.

Heres the thing, I've heard women say shit like that before, it doesn't even matter how it effects him. IE, I was with a women who tried to always come up with reasons why she didn't like it, including how it made me act. Despite the fact that I've talked to cops for 20 minutes baked and had the conversation end with the cop telling me "Well, its obvious your not high, so we're going to let you go..." Keep in mind when people don't like something, it may not have anymore logical reason behind it then they've been told their whole lives, "pot bad bad bad"

I would roll joints, and put the mouth end in a straw and the cherry in my mouth and blow the condensed smoke in a wine glass to drink. She complained that it was making the glass smell even after washing it, despite that the glass I brought her to smell HAD NEVER BEEN USED FOR THAT PURPOSE, I completely busted her in a lie but she wouldn't back down. Just saying, I think your giving to much credit to logic on this. Though I agree with you on the "she's not the only girl, and your not the only bloke" thing, thats at the heart of this. If you don't have a family, don't think your staked down, move on rather then it getting so far that ending it is a trial....

Well yes your right too but in general terms chronic smokers turn out to be right lazy buggers. And its not about not appearing high here, your with a cop and of course your going to appear sober. What about when your with the missus, can you be bothered to not act high? I wouldn`t, thats the whole point of getting high. LOL at the smelly glass thing you got her good :D

Its up to the OP to find out the mixed messages behind the whole "I dislike pot" fuzz and compromise over them in the proportions he would like.

Perhaps the OP failed to "prove his habit innocent" during the time he was freely smoking pot. What made her change her mind? An answer to that is an answer to the whole thing.

Sober things can be done while high. You can give your wife the fuzz she wants while high too, with confidence. Understand her needs... If you go "I`m high I give up" and she goes "Hes high I give up" thats bullshit. We all know everything from sex to conversations are enjoyed when high. With these attitudes the high will never be harnessed to its max potential ;)

But this is shaping up like a needs list from her to you at the end of the day. Know what you want and don`t let her pin you down on too much... :)
