Reflector footprint

How can you tell how much area a specific reflector can cover? I have an 8' x 8' room and i'm thinking of getting a Sun System XXXL Magnum 8" "The Ocho" Air Cooled Reflector - 1000w

I'm sure i'll keep my plants 1' away from the walls so i'll be working with a 7' x 7' grow area - is this enough light?

1 x 1000w for a 7x7 room with magnum hood?

No it will probably cover around 5x5.

You would probably be better off getting 2x600w and also 600w's have a better lumens per watt ratio. 95,000 lumens per 600w.

jondamon - I was thinking 600w too but the guy at my local grow shop is guiding me toward the 1000w. If i did go with 2 600's it would prob light the whole 8x8 room correct?

And do i have to worry about lighting overlap in certain areas? Thats why I was curiouse about the exact footprint.

a single 600w is good for 4x4 floor area.

So 2 x 600w is good for 8x4 floor area

If you have 3000w made up of 3 1000w lights
and then
if you have 3000w made up of 5 600w lights

there are more lumens in the 3000w made up of 5x 600w than there is in the 3x1000w lights

And you can find that out on any hydro store website when you look at replacement lamps.

harrekin made a very good point about light movers.

If you looking to spend money then the single 1000w on a light mover would make sense and would then cover a 5x10 area 50ft/2 and your room is 8x8 64ft/2 minus the amount of space for a decent working environment in there as you will need to have space to walk around and be able to check them etc then the mover idea is a very good one.
