I think this whole thread is Reef's resume for TGA. :D

Man, I hope Subcool takes you on as a tester when you get out here. If not, I'll start my own seed company and hire you! ;)

Haha hopefully they will i'd love to test some genetics before they get released :) it sucks living in the south :) pretty sure it'll be a cold day in hell when they legalize it here -- they just effectively kicked most of the abortion providers out of the state and passed restrictions on abortion after 20 weeks (which i'm pretty sure is not going to stand up to a supreme court test...)... not that I'm a real pro abortion person (not my issue) but just shows you how things are in the state I'm in... there's not a chance we'll even get medical probably until hispanics are a population majority here (which actually won't be too long, especially if they ever do immigration reform).

My new fan may actually be too strong... you can see in the plants on the far right how it's blowing their leaves up :( that's on the lowest possible speed setting... on the bright side that airflow kept the plants from frying yesterday -- that was AFTER it got hot.

Also you think i should lower that 1K? There's more intense light under the 600w and the 1K buds haven't caught up to the 600

I was actually going to ask you how you keep them so close without cooling them how close are they to you canopy

How they stay so close without cooling is if you look in the far away shot from above behind the fan you will see the portable a/c unit (12,000 btu) that runs 24/7 on 73 degrees :) The fans just have to make sure that the air is circulating around/underneath the lights so that the heat does not build up. The fan in the pic is old and doesn't move much air and was the only one there til yesterday... i figured from the bleaching on the older TWs there may not be enough airflow so I added the more powerful fan yesterday that is moving a lot of air around those lights now even on its lowest setting. So ambient temps in the room are 73-75, directly under the lights it's around 78. Only downside is it's windstressing the leaves on the plant in the corner that's closest to it and gets the most wind. I have the option to hook up external venting at pretty much any time through the same window the a/c vents through but since the a/c is handling it I figure there is no real reason (other than the condition where the a/c stops working :) )

Nice your really stepping up your game with you growing shorter plants you could raise those lights and still have more then enough light I think they should be at least 12" above the tallest bud but thats just me everyone is different and if its working for you why fix it

ReefBongwell

yeah but is that 12" to the bulb or the glass... because the bulb is almost 6" above the glass... and on the 1K, the plants are easily 1' below the glass. Compare the 600w the glass is probably 6" off the highest buds so the bulb's probably about 1' away there from the very tops.

I'm not actually sure I imagine it wold be the bulb cause thats where the heat come from I think the recommended is like 16" and thats if its air cooled or you should be able to hold your hand under the light without it getting hot and thats where your plants should be at

also I think it might be bad to have the glass on if your not air cooling them cause the heat is building up inside the hood might be bad for the bulb I could be wrong though

Heya Reef what is up how is that tea going for you did you like it? Check out the WebMD on it

'Jiaogulan is a plant that grows wild in China. The leaf is used to make medicine. Jiaogulan is sometimes referred to as “Southern Ginseng” because it grows in south central China and is used in similar ways as ginseng.

Jiaogulan is used for high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and improving heart function. It is also used for strengthening the immune system, increasing stamina and endurance, increasing resistance to environmental stress (as an “adaptogen”), improving memory, and preventing hair loss.

Other uses include treatment of poor appetite, cough, chronic bronchitis, ongoing stomach pain (chronic gastritis), pain and swelling (inflammation), ulcers, constipation, stress, gallstones, obesity, cancer, diabetes, trouble sleeping (insomnia), backache, and pain.

Some people use jiaogulan as an anti-aging agent, antioxidant, and detoxifying agent.'

I keep my 600w about 1 foot and some change above the canopy as I thought that was about right..I guess not?
Also crammed the T5 in the tent and turn it one for a few hours at a time.
Good question whoever asked how you cool all that lol, I was wondering the same!
Also, what's the lastest that you've ever successfully been able to bend a flowering plant, and have it recover?

PS that smallest plant is a Greenhouse Bubba Kush that I kept stripping down bcuz it's genetically a mutant.
It's now growing normal leaves tho, so I decided to keep it rather than trash it.
And no I'm not making another thread lol. I'm posting here just to get specifically your input.

Whatz up reef buddy, plants looking good bro, if u hook them hoods up and exhaust that shit out the window or where ever u can probably put that hood within 4inches of ur plants, hell u could probably let ur ac get a break now and then, and i think its suppose to make ur bulb last longer, u wont have any heat problems, idk just my thoughts, alot less power consumption with the inline fan then an ac, cant wait to see ur harvest,oh yeah i will let u test any of my seeds if i was a breeder, for sure boats and hoes

you get'em too close you'll bleach'em especially on that 1k... there is definitely a saturation point where it gets to be more light than the plant can process and then you get the yellow chlorotic spots. I'm probably gonna vent those lights eventually.. maybe next run just gotta find the willpower to deal with that kind of project :)

Looking really nice and healthy Int'l! So do you mean they've had flowers for 15 days? I've retrained individual branches that are getting too tall up until mid flower... they don't really stretch after about 4 weeks (tho i guess a purer sativa could) so there shouldn't usually be a need to do so after that point really... i just retie them down though I don't try to pinch/supercrop the branch, but tieing down under stress seems to have a very similar effect to super cropping -- by stress I mean the branch is straining against the tie down because it wants to be upright... a floppy branch that feels like there is very little tension on a tie down isn't gonna get that effect. That's one thing I don't like about the chernojill as much it has pretty floppy stems from the trainwreck genetics. I like to think of what I do as high stress training because the branches that come out the best are the ones with a lot of tension against the tie down.... they thicken up and make nice big support branches that can carry weight. The ones that don't are the ones I take for cuttings or trim off (sucker branches i heard them called). One thing I noticed this run is that the tie down has the best effect if you do it before the branch gets too long, then adjust the tie/tension out as the branch grows.

Sup brother.
I mean it's been it's day 15 since I flipped to 12/12!
And nice for that info. I figure I'll keep pinching and bending things for another couple weeks then.
I've been pinching and bending pretty much everything! Main colas and the seconday branches with buds.
I've got very few secondary branching goin on ATM tho. More main colas for sure :)
And sounds solid as far as they way you train tho. Looks solid too.
I had to give supercropping a try and so far I think I'll add it to the rotation
We'll just have to see what happens at harvest :)

keep in mind training in flower means potentially delaying maturity since the plant has to recover... so as far as i know only should do it if you really need to. I only do it if a stretchy cola gets too tall compared to the rest or for tieing up branches that flop.

Went in there this afternoon... a whole chernojill had completely flopped over due to being unable to support it's own weight... i thought it was dead at first but it's fine just can't support itself ?!? i'm gonna get something out of the storage shed to see if that'll help... i also gotta stake up a couple of apollo branches that have flopped... a big problem is doing this part time i don't always have to time to do'em all the way they should and then you end up with shit like that in flower... ;)

Tonight's update...

Things are looking up clone-wise... looks like the wilty clones might still make it... the one i put in a dome finally started looking better today... so i put them all in the clone dome... the branches left in the clone dome love its new location and some i thought were dead have actually made a comeback... wish I had started my clone in here from the start.. i'm guessing i will have much better success on the next batch of cuttings where it is now...the light levels appear just right... pleasant light not too strong... and the temps stay between 75 and 80... so gonna be time for a last attempt at cuttings this week for the plants that didn't make it... CSJ2 (the one that flopped over today) will NOT make the next run... so it's down to CSJ5 vs CSJ3. It seems to me like CSJ5 has more trainwreck influence and CSJ3 has more romulan influence.

Was looking at my aces earlier... back in the corner behind those big bad boys is an ace with smaller buds... covered in frost... it may end up being the dank keeper pheno we'll see... definitely no purple in there it's a white strain. Whitest buds, frostiest pheno...

I may try and take some pics later, I'm gonna get up there and water shortly. I got more of my secret ingredient today for watering :)

Not sure whether I'm gonna put those germing beans in dirt tonight or tomorrow.. maybe tomorrow if I gotta water tonight... gotta water older seedlings too. Wish I could take off tomorrow to work on the garden...

Thanks Raider... fuck got a lot of watering to do tonight about 3/4 of the plants need watering due to the heat last night.. couple started to get wilty... more pics coming

This is the tw14 that's been under the 600w... looks like it's almost done I got excited that i might cut it tomorrow to harvest but I'm gonna give it at least one more week out of principle.... it's almost gone through all it's big fan leaves down to the last couple nodes at the top now all the others are nicely faded :)

Look close you can see my fat thumb next to some fat buds ;) Not my keeper pheno...

I just harvested 2 plants that had mostly matured under my blackstar in the tent for many weeks, they matured in very high temps (28-30) at lights on... maybe more. Same temps as my other room with other LED lights really... I really don't like the results I am getting with the blackstar!! it does the trick to finish my plants when they are a week or 2 from harvest but otherwise it seems like they grow fluffy buds loaded with hairs. I know the heat will coze this but at least under stronger LEDs with better spectrum I am getting very dense nugs. Just thought I would let you know again :eyesmoke:

Interesting I don't really have issues with fluffy buds on my blackstars at all... how high do you keep yours off the tops? i keep mine around 6" or try to... also more than one per plant... if you are just using one could be why... of course i also grow super soil and usually have extra co2 so may be part of the reason too...? but i don't really see airy bud issues with the blackstars -- one strain to the next every ones different from hard dense nugs to medium to lighter it just depends on strain mainly... i do find they tend to take a week or two longer than HPS (but i can't say that for sure as that was when i was swapping flower plants in and out every 12 hours gave'em < 12 hours full dark)... i would guess it's more an issue of your environment but who knows... i do notice that compared to HPS the blackstar plants put out a lot more trim leaves... which is really good if you're making hash but a pain in the ass to trim... my hps plants look like the trimming will be very modest :) what year is your blackstar? mine are all after 2012 i've heard bad things about the earlier models... maybe i'm just the only one who has luck with'em ;) but yeah they are not putting out the kind of yields I really want and the big leds are real expensive so i may be sticking with hps for a while

So from what I hear this is actually how the trainwreck strain got it's name... it'll be hard to give her the axe as she probably has the best resin profile and it smells like sweet lime candy jolly ranchers so good
