Recommend me a Sativa to start!

Hi guys, I have selected 3 Sativa females to grow and would like your input on the 4th! :-D

I have chosen:

GHS Super Lemon Haze
GHS Super Silver Haze
GHS Hawaiian Snow

All are 9-11 week flowering times so your choice would have to be in this category. As you can tell from my selection I am a fan of GHS and Sativa/Haze strains, but the 4th can be any choice that you guys can personally recommend.

I really enjoy the sweet tasting sativa's with my all time favourite from Amsterdam being the Hawaiin Haze I sampled in Abraxxas years ago for its fruity mango like smell and identical tasting smoke!

I look forward to any suggestions, especially as I don't have experience with other companies seeds so would be good to know who come highly recommended by you guys! :weed:

Mango haze. 50% sativa.
Mango Haze is more than 50% sativa but it is 50% Haze, same heritage as SSH.

Luckymeh, your description sounds like MH. I've never heard of Hawaiian Haze, it's not listed in SeedFinder and a Google search only revealed THIS. "Secret Indica" it says and there is no mention of the breeder. And this is the best shit that you've ever smoked but it's not even popular? Somebody changed the name on you by the time you got it. I believe you had Mango Haze.

Power Plant by DP is an 8 week sativa. Thats pretty damn good in terms of sativas. It's also allegedly a high a yielder (i.e. cash crop).

If you meant an actual sativa, a real sativa, a true sativa .... I would go with one of the three below, most likely in my case Willie Nelson.

Reefermans Seeds - Willie Nelson
Strain: Willie Nelson
Breeder: Reeferman
Location: indoor, outdoor
Type: sativa
Flowering: ~84 days
No feminized seeds.
2005 High Times Cannabis Cup Winner - Best Sativa

An F1 hybrid between Vietnamese Black and Highland Nepalese . Its Willie favorite smoke , he tried it once and bought the whole crop. What else do you need to know? How about a sweet and sour, lemongrassy flavor and a reasonable 10-12 week flowering time? Good mold resistance and a friendly, soaring high round out the package.

Inside Finish Time: 10-14 weeks / Outside Finish Time: Late November / Variation: 3 / Odor Level: 3.5 / Mold Resistance: 4.5 / Yield: 4 / Ease of Growth: 4 / Feed Level: 4.5 / Stretch: 2.5-3x

Strain Lineage / Genealogy / Family Tree

Reefermans Seeds - Phnom Penh
Strain: Phnom Penh
Breeder: Reeferman
Location: indoor, outdoor
Type: sativa
Flowering: ~98 days
No feminized seeds.
Aka: Cambodian
The PP is anything but average! Crossing to a Thai x Haze father tames the wild sativa just a little bit, with out losing the psychedelic stone and spicy incense , black tea flavors of the Cambodian jungle weed. Not for beginners

Inside Finish Time: 14 weeks / Outside Finish Time: early December / Variation: 3.5 / Odor Level: 2 / Mold Resistance: 6 / Yield: 4 / Ease of Growth: 3 / Feed Level: 2.5 / Stretch: 3.5x

Strain Lineage / Genealogy / Family Tree

Reefermans Seeds - Haze bros original Haze

Strain: Haze bros original Haze
Breeder: Reeferman
Location: indoor, outdoor
Type: sativa
Flowering: ~98 days
No feminized seeds.
Haze brothers original haze crazy old school this is the original haze that all haze hybrids were bred from strong cat pissy super long flowering sativa that will blow your mind very special its back in all her glory these plants stretch like mad getting huge you will need to flower cuttings as soon as they root to keep plants under 6 feet tall medium yielding the best breeding haze available today. 12-16 weeks flowering time and worth the wait reasonable because no veg is required.

Strain Lineage / Genealogy / Family Tree

If you are someone who considers a sativa/indica cross that is more than 50% sativa an actual sativa I would dump those Green House Seeds mutts and go with Kali Mist, Jack Herer, Super Silver Haze and Western Winds ... but all from the original genetics, the original breeders and not knockoffs from some other breeders.

Brick, what site are you pulling the info from? I want to check it out.
When I first found it the site had roughly 1,400 strains listed. It keeps growing.

http://en.seedfinder.eu/

Cannabis-Varieties and Breeders: Behind the SeedFinder there is a strain-database with momentary 2453 different cannabis varieties. 2197 of them from 147 established breeders - linked and expanded with 77 pure local breeds, 35 clone-only strains and 144 various unknown or legendary varieties. Extensive features allow you to expand / modify all the information and upload your own photos and info on each varieties and their phenotypes.

SLH,hashplant haze,kali mist,trainwreck
SLH is already on the list mate but I like the sound of the Hashplant x Haze and Kali mist..! What breeders would you recommend them from? Have heard mixed reviews on the Trainwreck so probably wont go that route.

Mango Haze from Mr. Nice. If you like GHSC, maybe you should try Arjan's Ultra #2. It has Mango Haze in it.
Mango Haze sounds sweet! Are the results from Mr. Nice seeds to a good standard? I just checked Arjan's Ultra #2, sounds awesome but the 12-13 weeks flowering is something to consider?

Kali Mist fo sho look into it
What breeder do you recommend mate?

chocolate thai if u can find it. if you cant then its no question, nyc diesel!
I always associate thai with thai weed I used to get :? so is chocolate thai a haze? If so it sounds interesting as Chocolope from Grey Area is one of my favourites!

Mango Haze is more than 50% sativa but it is 50% Haze, same heritage as SSH.

I think your correct mate, I googled Hawaiian haze and nothing comes up, did the same for Mango Haze and its description is identical to what I would describe the "hawaiian Haze" as so Abraxxas must have re-named it?

Not sure on PP mate, I will have to look into its genetics though. What breeders would you recommend for it? I'm not too fussed about yield as I don't grow for commercial use, only for myself to sample so quality is the most important to me

BrickTop, thanks for that info and your recommendations! I will bookmark the seedfinder website as it looks great!

The only reason I like GHS is because my previous grow I had 3 ladies: GHS Alaskan Ice, GHS King's Kush & Nirvana Chrystal, the GHS ladies were amazing compared the the Nirvana which was good but not amazing. You mention getting seeds from the original breeders but I have no idea who the original breeders could be?! Are GHS the original breeders of SLH as I definitely want to start that one. The Hawaiian snow was just a thought so that could be replaced with something else and the SSH was given to me so might as well give it a go! GHS SSH has good reviews but is there another breeder who makes a better one?

I want to grow some buds that look, taste, smell and smoke amazing like you would find in the best coffee shops so what breeders offer those kind of genetics? I wasn't too impressed with the consistency of the Nirvana but would Mr. Nice, Barneys farm, Sensi seeds etc live up to the good experience I had with GHS?

Cheers for all the input guys, really appreciate it and will do my homework on the strains you have mentioned so far!

Super Silver Haze is a creation of Shantibaba and he was part owner in Green House Seeds when he created it but when he sold out his interest not only did he leave but his genetics went with him so if you want the original Super Silver Haze you need to purchase Mr. Nice Seeds Super Silver Haze.

Arjan, the present owner of Green House Seeds, and who Shantibaba sold out to, has tried to lay claim to having created Super Silver Haze. Arjan handled the business end of Green House Seed, marketing etc. The breeding was done by Shantibaba and Neville Shoenmaker, as in "Neville's Haze."

Other famous strains that originally were under the Green House Seeds name, like White Widow and White Rhino, were also Shantibaba's work and after he opened up Mr. Nice Seeds he renamed them Black Widow and Medicine Man.

I would agree that Green House Seeds are better than Nirvana but that's like saying Best Buy is better than Wal-Mart. In other words they're pretty close to being two losers fighting for last place.

If you want quality genetics purchase from Reeferman Seeds or Mr. Nice Seeds or Sensi Seeds or Serious Seeds or Sagarmatha Seeds or Soma Seeds or De Sjamaan or Sannie Seeds or Black Label Seeds and a few others ... but most breeders that people here go all Lady Gaga over are little more than pollen chuckers who have marketed themselves well enough to fool the masses into believing they are true pros when they are anything but.

personally, one of my favorite Sativas is Durban Poison. short flower time, consistant taste/flavor to die for and I never get bored with the high. one of only a few strains that I'm never without.

just finished some Barney's Red Diesel as well ..... lots of tight golfball nugz covered in red hairs and trichs. the taste is like tangerines (my friend said tangerines crossed with ass. the diesel is very much in there) and the high terrific. 2x in 5gal pots @ 18" start ended @ 34" and averaged 2oz each (under 1000w HIDs). the strain requires some finesse though, it was my first grow with it and I'm sure she has more weight/size in her when I can fine tune her. expect the hairs to turn red quicker then most varieties, not a great indicator of 'I'm done!'.

I smoked a lot of Durban Poison decades ago, in the late 60's and early to mid 70's, and I have my doubts about some modern 'versions' of Durban Poison actually being the real deal.

When it comes to flowering time it depends on which breeder's Durban Poison you purchase.

Afropips Seeds - Durban Poison
Strain: Durban Poison
Breeder: Afropips
Location: indoor, outdoor
Type: sativa
Flowering: ~105 days
No feminized seeds.

100 % Pure Saitva
Durban Poison selected from the potentest Durban Poison Sticks/Pencils.
Small buds with Speedy High.
Flowering: 90 -120 days of 12/12.
Indoors: (Veg 0-10 days for 5 - 6 ft plant)

From Humble Pie's - "30 Days in the Hole" They sang about Durban Poison back in 1972.

If you live on the road, well there's a new highway code
You take the urban noise with some Durban Poison
It's gonna lessen your load

I've had a look at some of those companies you mentioned but most of them are regular seeds only, no feminized.. What's the deal with that, is there something I should know about using regular ones instead?! There are also some feminized ones but they are cheaper than regular?! Some of them state yield amounts which seem low.. I received 4oz of cured bud from my GHS Alaskan Ice which is what I would be looking at achieving again so will those breeders offer me similar yields?

I was also looking at T.H seeds, are they decent as they have some nice looking strains like S.A.G.E and Kushage! Barney's farm also have some amazing looking strains along with the 2010 HTCC winner Tangerine dream but I take it people don't rate these?!
