Recommend $300 budget light..... For a friend

So you're telling me that a bulb in a fixture attached to the ballast in a tent together puts off no heat and needs no ventilation at all while a bulb only in a fixture with no ballast at all puts out tons of heat?

correct.....I ran a 315w cmh in my 4x4 with zero exhausts or intake and temps never rose about 75 degrees. Not the case during our 2 hot months during summer. but the other 10 months out of the year ....yeah.....almost no heat really gets put off as long as outside tent temps are below 70 degrees. funny other people who have used these fixtures seem to agree with me lol. Maybe your not smoking the right stuff lol

So you expect someone to rack up a 1000 dollar per month AC bill just to use you're ceramic light rather than just buy a fucking digital ballast for less and have no issues.

Yeah. Sounds legit.

Uh.....ok now you must be smoking something other than meds. Who mentioned a single thing about ac lol....? Infact I stated I dony even use exhaust fans with just my 315w in a 4x4 10 months outta the year. Yeah 2 months out of the year I use a single 4 inch inline exhaust...which costs about 10 bucks if that to run for the month. My total electricity bill is less than 100 bucks a month. Running two tents at that lol. Gotta love oregons 13c per kwh ;)

I dont know a single person that racks up a grand in electricity by simply running an ac unit. Your math is off somewhere .....to say the least lol. Even living in Hawaii where its 33c per kwh. You wouldn't be spending more than a couple hundred to use an ac unit. None the less...this is irrelevant since again you brought this factor up completely on your own. So again...no....no ac is ever needed when running just a 315w cmh

Lol hahaha I'm not sure If you even realize what your even arguing......a 315w cmh connected to the ballast is only 336w I'm the tent. A 400w hps still has more wattage inside the tent lol. So yeah....its definitely cooler than a 400w hps. Listen to the other guys backing my claim up who have real life experience with it.....

I have 4 of these fixtures and they put off heat comparable to a 400, maybe a bit less. But yeah, they put off the same amount of heat any 300 watt HID would.

Baking soda, I got baking soda.

I think my friend is going to go with a cheap dimmable air cooled hps setup. I was trying to steer him to quantum boards but couldn't find much of any reputable companies selling a plug and play light for our budget

The hps won't double yield just because it's double the W on paper. He can add quantum boards to the cmh set-up next run and make up the lost yield over hps by run 3, W for W. The differences and spectrum durability of the newer techs pay for themselves soon enough. It's easier to reach a strains weight potential with multiple light sources while the spectrum's they have also increase quality.

Or, for a dimmable driver that is a bit more efficient, he could get the HLG-320H-36A for $88 instead of the LRS series. There are no heat sinks required for the QB132s or QB120s.

They are sold out of 3500k, but 4000k will work just fine for both veg and flower (they are sold in packs of four).

Or if you want a dimmable higher efficiency driver for a tad more, get the ELG-240-24A or the HLG-240H-24A. You can even run them harder on the HLG-320H-24A.

But, if you're just trying to go as cheap as possible and get it done, I know one person running four QB120s beautifully on the LRS-350-24, and it is so cheap. That one's nice because it really pushes them. I know someone else who is running four QB132s on the LRS-350-36 driver.

You do not have to worry about pushing them too hard. LED Gardner did a torture test video where he ran a QB288 which is rated by HLG/Samsung at 135 watts max, to 640 watts before it burnt out. So, these things can go up to four times their rated wattage. Maybe even more with the qb120s and the qb132s because the pcb board is stronger and thicker. But, obviously, the harder you run them the lower the efficiency.

If his budget is $300, he should really get the HLG-320H-36A for the QB132s, or HLG-320H-24A for the QB120s (all these drivers I've listed would need to have the boards wired in parallel, by the way). With this driver, you could dim it down a bit and it would run cool and efficient as hell. That would bring his total to around $230-$240. It would also be easier on the old electric bill.

I would ultimately opt for the QB132s simply because there are 12 more diodes per board. With four boards that's 48 more diodes, 1/3 of a board more. This is absolutely the best quality lighting you can get in terms of spectrum, efficiency, penetration, and COVERAGE. At this price, they just simply cannot be beat. Don't get me wrong, COBs are spectacular, but these boards have them slightly beat, imo, when it comes to cost and coverage. Plus no heat sinks required.

There, problem solved. But, he had better hurry, because they are selling out very quickly, and for good reason! There are only TWO QB132 4-packs left and seventeen QB120 4-packs left. It will be months before they restock.

That's a shame, because it is so incredibly simple to connect the board with the driver. There is no soldering required. Literally, all you have to do is splice some wire and push it in a connector. And done. You can save $130 doing that. There's even an instructional video showing you how to do it step-by-step. I will even walk you through it. It would be a real shame to pay someone over $100 just to put wires into a connector for him.

Light will be used for autoflowers in a 3x3 space. Just looking to help a friend out to give a quality product link to show them, and I'm not to experienced with autoflowers and automated dtw.

I am biased to a 600w hps/mh setup, but they are not to keen on that choice because of the ballast noise
