Gonnna be getting some 6500k soon(CXB3590) and I don't get it why fools trip on m and can't tell when I'm being a fool or being serious.
Whatever man, you know what bright light does. Everything you do when growing with LED is scrutinized 3 times as much. You pull 0.6g/W from expensive ass T5HO and people will praise your non-threatening weak results. You pull 1.1g/W... and oh... but those buds aren't worth trimming... and it looks like a small yield to me... oh, and it looks like airy bud... and it looks like you didn't even get a 1000W HPS lamps worth yield from a 2x4 tent. Your leaves are slightly discolored, it must be beacuse you grow with LEDs. I pulled 1.4g/W with HPS. Beat that! That's right, you can't beat me!

Look, it's not the color of our skin that matters, it's the color of our leds. White power!! :joint:

In short, your plants look perfect and the "doubters" are full of shit I don't even think you will be able to turn the panels to full power without removing a panel or two.

Instead of taking a seat and watching the first killer of killers do their thing, they decided to talk a bunch of bullshit. Great way of thanking you for showing them something they've never seen before.

As for the chinese vs american panels drama from a half year ago, I don't even want to get into that. That's the least of the issues going on here imo.

"I just want you to give me a picture so I can show you what I mean"

There is no point showing pictures to someone who already made it perfectly clear that his response to whatever is sent will be predetermined (no matter what he sees, he will still "show you what he means"). There's no point. I could show the same picture saying it was HPS and nobody would even notice it's an LED grow. Then everyone would be calling my >1.1g/W results awesome instead of coming up with reasons why it's actually not good.

I just started flowering on my 200w CXB3070s and have it over 2 plants. I have two plants in the same tent under a chinese panel (Platinum P300). I stopped rotating them after veg. Now the 2 under the CXBs are HUGE compared to the P300. Look a bit healthier too. Makes all the work we put into our lights just that much sweeter to see the performance difference right in front of your face. Haters gonna hate!

P300 in the back obviously, not a good shot to show off the size difference but still cool!

Looking great Realstyles! I've got an old school hps gardener helping me with a room I'm building and can't wait to blow him away with LED.
I have been doing lots of reading and think I'm going to build based on yours here.
I have a question regarding coverage. I've got an area 12ft long and 40 inches wide.
How many of your units would you recommend?
I have a light rail I plan on using. It is 9' with the main unit and two trollies.
I know some aren't too keen on them but I already have it and feel it couldn't hurt.

At this time I plan on vegging and bloom in the same location.
I think I may use a higher k(6500) and lower k(3500) on each unit.
Start my veg with high k half cobs on and ramp up over the the cycle.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hey realstyles I appreciate your thread and I'm not trying to Jack it but I would like to get a little input. I've had some success using several 300 watt cheap eBay leds. About a month ago I found out about the riu threads on diy leds watching GGs gorilla glue #4 run. So after studying these threads I ordered 12 cxb 3590 3500 from kingbrite, and 3 hog 185 c1400b. But now I can't figure out whether to go with the big heatsink like realstyles which looks really good, or should I go the cpu sink fan combo? Trying to cover a 4x4 tent.

I'd say the price on the heatsinkusa profiles are very reasonable. If you took the 5.886" profile at 6" long (almost a square), it would cost 10.44. Of course shipping is a large factor too. (not that I'd design around 6 inch squares, but just trying to put it in comparison to an alpine, which is about 90mm square.)

I think heatsinkusa kicks ass.

There are a lot of different ways to do it @SSS2015, none of them 'cheap' from AU. Postage is the killer as nobody seems to stock all the components in one place. Your electrician wont need a schematic, at its most simple it is just drivers hooked to the mains powering the cobs, in series with larger (drivers) or parallel with a number of smaller ones. They have built in protections and you don't really need dimmers etc.. just a parts list.

If I was after 900w divided between Veg/Bloom i'd devote perhaps 700w to bloom.
To keep costs down i'd drive them harder, probably Bridgelux Vero cobs as a place to start, Vero18 seem like good comparative value, say driven around 1.4a to give 40w each? If your lost already (just focusing on my suggestion), just ask (go back to the other thread or start ur own..), it would be appropriate to now pause while you catch up, there really are so many options and it just cant be explained fully without you and your personal learning curve.

At a very rough estimate (in AU) you'd be looking at $70-80 each cob up and growing. I only dabble with little cabinet lights but have helped a mate with a larger tent size light, bigger scale can help with costs.

I'm familiar with Area 51 lights as a commercial alternative, the new models best but there are some older ones hitting the AU market (gumtree/ebay)
yeah that was mostly way over my head. I'll start my own thread and ask opinions.
