Really Quick Hydro Question, I promise...

I have never grown hydro before, but I'm going to try it out, I have a homeade drip water system and Hydroton clay pellets. Here is my problem..
I live somewhere that has very limited resources, I can't get rockwool before next week and my seeds are germinating as we speak.. I know I should have waited..
Rather then use rockwool (which I don't have) what else can I use as a seed starting medium that I can add to my Hydroton clay pellets when they get rooted? And how to use it would be good. I have Perlite, Vermiculite, Pete pelets (the ones that expand). What else is there?

Hey guy, welcome to the forum. None of the things you mention is particullary good for going into hydroton, the best of those choices would be the peat pellets. A better alternative would be something solid that you can move to the hydroton like Rapid Rootes. If you have to use the peat pellets maybe you could get some of these pots at Menards, they have smaller ones then these, The are made of Coco-coir and the roots will grow right thru them. I believe they would stop the peat from 'washing out'. VV:blsmoke:

Mr I Can Do That For Half
order some rockwool cubes online can have them in 2-3 days for under $20. All the listed stuff as said isnt ideal for hydro growing and peat or coco not a favorite of mine as it always casues issues. If you have neoprene collars you can grow without the hydroton if your plants have good roots developed or are clones from seeds you really wanna have rockwool cubes
