Nothing like having a conversation wioth someone and you have to wait 60 seconds between posts! Really wouldnt twenty work?
I understand what you are trying to do, but really this sicks....
 
then I would agree, that 20 seconds or less between PM's is a good idea. I thought you were just talking about in a thread lol.

Really what are you trying to do? I understand your trying to stop spammers, but man 60 seconds in a PM. is ridiculous and so is the 10 character minimum... Ive never seen a board type operation with these types of "features".
 
I'm sorry that you have so many problems. You've been here a month, and have had many complaints and a lot of trouble using the site. I'm sure your experiences with other sites have given you much satisfaction, so I'm curious why you would participate on a forum that you have so many complaints about.

Would you please answer my question instead of answering with a question? I have only had 2 problems, one is this delay thing, the other was the email notifications which by the way I am still getting randomly at times, but fortunately Yahoo email filters them out for me. I like the forum here and for the most part the people, its the software that sucks.. I have a background in IT so I have more than a cursory knowledge of these things. I mean look, the search function has been broke how many days? The only solution I saw was to use Google search.

So are you trying to say that if I see a problem or perceive there to be a problem if I dont complain then there isn;t a problem?

unlike most pot forums this place gets a LOT of traffic. can you imagine the delay with tens of thousands of people all simultaneously sending back to back messages through the server? or if we could go back the the old days where trolls would make 55 posts each with one word on them just to clutter the section...the server upgrade that would be required to meet your request on a site like this would be expensive, and last i checked few people pay to be here (although many of us are willing *ahem*).

a lot of these other forums you refer to require days before anyone responds. threads sit for weeks at the top of lists because there's no one there to respond. obviously these little sites have no need to implement limits like this site. who would even notice?
 
I dont buy that at all. I have been a member on an investment forum for several years and I can guarantee you that they probably have much much more volume than here. I understand few people pay here, maybe you could run a special for a special rate to overcome this miniscule problems? Does this limit get removed if I upgrade a membership? I dont even know, I dont see anything mentioned about upgrades anywhere? Maybe that should be an option. You guys should get creative here, I smell a money making opportunity on this one.

I guess I should pick my battles better, seems there is no logical reason for the built in delay other than it likely came in the canned software used here.

there used to be an elite membership where you would pay and get special privileges but that's disabled now. there was a whole lot of fuss and whining from the members but it was done away with. i never did figure out why but i think it had something to do with processing payments or something. there were a bunch of hard to follow threads that attempted to sort it out but i really don't know what happened. people who already had elite status got to keep it. honestly though i don't know if the limits were any different.
i do know that plenty of us have made it very clear that we are willing to pay for certain privileges or upgrades that might not be in the cards without financial support, but i've basically excepted that it's not going to happen. i'm all over it if they bring it back, though.
 
Glad to see you completely ignored the advice about using live chat. You can whisper sweet nothings alll you like in there, i fail to see the issue. And heck, one could say if your PM's are short enough that 60 seconds is an issue, then it sounds like it should have been a private conversation in live chat all along. Instant messaging was created alongside emails for a reason, which is essentially all PM's are.
 
Yeah your no help either...... Still doesnt address the issue of the restrictions on forum posts either, or the restriction on searches...
Go back to bed.
 
this thread isn't about forum posts or search features, you clearly state it is about PM's ;) You have a bad attitude from the get go and you wonder why people don't seem to swoon before you.

Rollitup put it as simply as needs to be said :lol: You clearly don't understand what they are trying to do, hence the complaint, but are basing your whole argument on this lack of understanding :D Good work!
 
Obviously you cant read, initial post said nothing about pm's. Pretty funny you come out with that same late statement of "You clearly don't understand what they are trying to do", nobody has yet to explain what they are "trying to do". Since you undoubtedly dont understand the problem and very likely cant do anything about it anyway we can stop wasting time here.
Obviously you are one of the "huntin pecker" type posters who will never be annoyed by a 60 second delay.
