Do freshly cut clones go under 24 hour light or 18-6?

thats your choice, there is much controversy on the subject but i like 20/4. its basically whatever you use for veg.

whats the controversy about (ie: what are both sides of the argument)?

I thought the best was 24 hours under low light, I guees I should just put my clones in my veg room then eh?

give it 12/12 for the first 2 day to reduce stock. Then give it 18/6

Most people I talked to when I started my clones said that it was best to give them a 18-6 flowering cycle. I was also told that immediately introducing them to 24/0 works but doesn't give the plants a chance to adjust to the heat and light of your set up; which I suppose could hurt them.

Its suppose to be "shock"

I have done both and really don't think that it matters. Chances are you have something there running at 18/6 already so I would use that.

18/6 em and save on your energy bill. nuff said

to be honest in the veg stage it doesnt matter if they are 24/0 or 18/6. i did 18/6 to save on my bill (im using hid lighting) but 24/0 works as well.

during veg you can literally give it light 24/7.

during flowering (with most strains) you must not give more than 12 hrs of light otherwise your plant will not flower.. but of course its also ok to give a little less than 12hrs.


for me...my general rule of thumb is this: in veg give 18 hrs of light minimum...in flower give 12 hrs light maximum.

I usually keep em under 24 untill they get some roots...then 18/6

18/6 works. So does 24 hours.
I use 24 hours
My oldest clone was 2 years and performed well

18/6 has always worked out for me, but I know many growers who do 24. Personal preference I’ve just always went for if it’s not broke don’t fix it.

I generally do 1 week 24 on then transplant. I get amazing roots in 5-6 days. Yes my cloning closet has a blurple but it works great in there..
The trick is IBA plant hormone (clonex secret additive) and a little phospherous.

That's hard to beat! I thought I was having luck at 5 days with aloe water in a bubble cloner.

It's interesting that your roots are long and not bushy. Mine get bushy. Not sure what would make the difference. Must be just that they're so long in yours.. Would love to see you show how you do it and the progression over 3 days
