Re-Using ProMix

I have grown veggies and reused potting mix (after refreshing it a little), of this in containers and have gotten 2 years before spreading it out under the trees.

At $50 a bale, this would save about $800 that could be put into other aspects of growing, like a veg room light for clones.

I'm thinking if I mix in some organics, add a little more perlite, and top off with another 5 gallons of ProMix, that this would be fine. I am currently using Mega Crop as a fertilizer and plan to flush out residual the last two weeks of flowering in about a month and a half from now.

Anyone reuse soil and had negative results because of it?

I reuse my promix all the time.
I just flush it out with water then reuse.
I use it like hydro. I keep the promix inert and add my own nutes when I water.
I use greenleaf megacrop. Great stuff.

I'm not sure the size of the promix I purchase, I'd have to go outside and look. At Menards it runs around $15. I do use mine a few times. Then I put it in my vegetable garden.

Berger BM6 is the same basic thing as promix but I personally like it better and it's cheaper if your local store carries it. I get it for 17 bucks a bale.

Thanks for that, that is what I was thinking of doing. I don't see any reason why one couldn't use it multiple times provided the plants previously grown in it were healthy. Let me ask you, as a first time grower who is also using Greenleaf Mega Crop as well... are you just following their guidelines on fertilizing, and are you fertilizing every time you water? I am basically on a 4 day watering schedule and have been fertilizing at each watering (following the label on the bag). We are about a week and a half into flower, and I think so far, so good. Only problem, if it is a problem, is this is my first grow so I'm really just winging it.

Amazing price for that. I'm in Hawaii and a 3.8 cubic foot bale seems to run between $49.99 and $65 depending on which store you are in.

Ya that is really expensive. Thats almost $90 Canadian a bale.
I can get them for $35 Canadian if I buy 10 or more at a time through a farmer friend of mine.
For reuse I like to do a 50/50 old and new mix.

I reuse it forever basically. I leave it heaped from Fall until Spring. I use water only the last week or two of flower so not nute loaded. I have cloned in it and transplanted with it. No problem at all. I do turn it in Spring and a few times through Summer. At $60 on sale here and virtually nobody carrying it until mid-May and living 50 miles from town makes some things necessary. I do add a cup of garden lime per 5 gallon container and add Mykos. Perhaps some additional perlite.

I reuse my soil and heavily reammend. Some amendments take longer to breakdown so i get the benefit of having particles in all states of decay in my soil.

My perpetual Soil cycle


Myco HP base cut with recycled soil 50%


Earthworm castings 15%

(Sometimes) seasoil compost

Additional perlite 10%

Bone meal

Blood meal

Coffee grounds

Bat guano (0-15-1)

Humik

Glacial Rock Dust

Pottasium sulfate

Calcium Sulphate (gypsum)

Magnesium Sulphate (Epsom)

Seamagic kelp extract

For feeding I'm noticing it's very strain dependant.
I've had strains that got burned if I fed them every 3rd water and I'm currently running a strain that loves to be fed every watering.
I think greenleafs calmag add-on help alot and is worth the extra money.
That's in a 7 gallon fabric pot and I think close to 6 weeks of veg maybe 5 idk i
