Are light ballasts still creating noticeable electronic interference? I'm asking for two reasons. I have a friend in a non legal state wanting to grow CBD Hemp that is legal but they are still worried about the cops not being understanding. Also I have been growing with LED's but would like to check out HPS & MH lights but I don't want to piss off the neighbor that is a HAM radio enthusiast.

Thanks!!!!

i use cheap i power ballasts, and have never had a problem with them interfering with anything, but i don't have a ham radio....
have 2 computers, modem, router, wifi tv, ......all works fine with the ballasts running full blast a few feet away.
i guess to be sure, order one, set it up, let it run a little while, and then go have a chat with the neighbor....if he's not having any trouble, i wouldn't worry about it...if he is having trouble....pack it up, return it, and stick with your leds

The only way a ballast could interfere with a radio, at neighbour distance, is if it's totally fucked. I wouldn't worry about it.
Now if the radio was 3ft away, it might be a different story.

Maybe its not a problem anymore... I can't post links because I have not been on the site for that long but if you google (How cops are finding "grow ops" with AM radios) you will find several news articles. Thanks for the info!

not much of an issue anymore, most of the electronic ballasts filter all of that out. was a much bigger problem back when most ballast used a magnetic switch, like a cars solenoid, much harder to shield, much more power being used.
