Quick Questions about Light Set Up

Im planning to use a dwc method of growing for my first grow, im growing only 2 plants at a time though, maybe soon i will add 1 more, right now i have 3x30w CFLS (2700k) and im planning to buy 4 105w cfls to go on top. my first two are going to be autoflowering + femenized strains.

1. I have a desk lamp with a white reflector on it, theres a sticker on the inside that says, to reduce risk of fire, only use 60w type A or smaller, can i not use a 105 watt cfl or do i need to get another regular lamp.
(i am on a somewhat tight buget so im just using regular lamps around the house as fixtures to be positioned)

2. Can i start & finish using only 2700k bulbs with autoflowering plants?

3. Using 2x 3.5 Gal Buckets, how big of a yield can one expect using 4x 105w bulbs on top and 3-4x 30w bulbs around the sides for 2-3 plants? :weed:

This will be done in a 2ft x 3ft 10" wide all white room closet(may add some mylar).
I still haven't decided on nutes to use, i heard some good and bad things about koolbloom

i may use the liquid then dry combo
http://www.generalhydroponics.com/genhydro_US/koolbloom_combo.html

But they also have another small, uncomplicated combo called floranova

any suggestions?

im buying the cheap pH system from GH, im just looking to grow a couple oz personally with some small care, am i on the right track?

And please do add every bit of your two cents :D
Thanks in Advance.

1. I couldn't say for sure, I am only a novice with electrical, but I think those warnings are mostly for safety reasons. Me being the big worry wort I am, I just went to the hardware store and bought some $2 light sockets that are made to be heavy duty as far as I can tell. Would push you towards something like this.

2. Can i start & finish using only 2700k bulbs with autoflowering plants?

From what I have read, I believe so. Some people do 12/12 right off the bat with some strands and situations, and I have heard of it working. I am personally planning on giving mine a bit of veg light before switching to 2700k's though.

3. Using 2x 3.5 Gal Buckets, how big of a yield can one expect using 4x 105w bulbs on top and 3-4x 30w bulbs around the sides for 2-3 plants? :weed:

Everything I have read says this is very dependent on your care, your nutes, your strand, your space, etc etc etc. Short answer: All depends on you.

But ya man, sounds like you are on a good track. The autoflower's should be good for a small space like that.

hi, i grow autoflowering feminized with 18/6 with good yeilds. i too started with cfls they will work but if you go on this site to best deals you will find a 150 watt hps for 49.00 thats cheap .its your choice just a idea we all started on a short $$$.good luckl

hi,

not sure what dwc grow means, i hope someone can educate me on this...

I would recommend using 7500k light for vegging and 3500k for flowering. 4x 105W on top should be plenty for 2 plants (assuming 105 is the real wattage) and you have the right idea of putting lights on the side. Make sure to put the light as close to your plant's foliage as possible without burning it.

Just a side note: when growing with CFL, MYLAR IS ESSENTIAL imo, because CFL are weak light in general, you want to light-proof your growroom with mylar to trap as much light as you can.

are you growing in soil or hydro?

i hope this help a bit

I agree I would get a hps or both hps and mh instead of getting 105 watt cfls.
If they are actual 105 wattt cfls then no you cannot put them in your desk lamp that says 60 watts.
You can grow your auto flowers with just 2700k bulbs but it would be better to mix the spectrum or just use 6500k for veg and 2700k for flower.
I dont think anybody will be able to answer how much you will yeild its all up to you and your setup. You can expect something decent tho but you get something better using a H.i.d. lamp.

Since this is your first grow. you will learn a lot by just doing. there is no way in knowing how much you will get. The better care you give to your plant the bigger the yield. make sure to buy proper nutes, she will love you more for that.

Thanks to all for the advice, of course i +rep'ed all who answered.

btw, DWC means Deep Water Culture, it is one of the most easiest hydro setups, there should be a whole section for it.

the only reason im using CFLs are because of its energy saving properties, being that i don't live alone or pay bills i shouldn't run the lights up..:P
but yeah, im not expecting too big of a yield, jus 2-3 oz will do me perfectly fine, ill probably be using some LST just to see where it would get me.
& yes, 105 is the Real wattage so after i buy those i will have

x2 105w Full Spectrum Lights
x2 105w 2700k
x3 30w 2700k
x2 15w 2700k soft white flo tubes on the side

=

540watts of CFL

Go to home depot and grab some of those clip on lights and a bulb socket splitter or two.
14Ga wire can easily handle a 200 watt bulb or two 100 w. CFLs.
They even come with reflectors to spotlight your ladies.
