Question About Second Generation Seeds

Cactus is a good example.
Where or how does it store this info? How did it come to adapt itself to the hellish temperatures of the desert?
The DNA but how?
fuck, I shoulda studied those botany books!

Very good questions, and it stores it in genes - am not sure which specifically depending on the species of cactus..as for when.. that's a good question too - it may be photoperiod based, or temperature, would also assume that depends on the species. I need to do more research on that. David Salt who's a professor horticulture did some research on it, and had pinpointed a few genes in other types of plants and clearly demonstrated how when the plants got put near a coast that had saltwater.. they adapted naturally. I shouldn't be trying to hold botany/horticulture discussions at 4 in the damn morning, I'm 1/2 here and trying not to misword/misconstrue anything I'm trying to convey.
