question about my sodium vapor.

i have a sodium vapor bulb. its 70 watts comes with a small ballast and a mount. how far above my plants should i keep it and im only flowering three plants under it. is this enough light??

That's not enough light for three plants. The light should be as close as it can be without feeling hot.

Put you hand under it and see how close you can hold it without it burning. Then you have your guide.

use method he said and that light aint really enough for one plant

the box says it has the light intensity of a 450 watt. and its super bright. like really really bright. i have heard of people using less than 450 watts and doing great. since its only a 70 watt with a 450 watt intensity do you think it would do alright?

hot damn that means my 400 watter is really a 2565watt according to what they claim - that is bullshit 400 watt divided by 70 equals 5.7 times 450 =2565
no it has the intensity of a 70 watt and im sure they mean compared to a 450 watt incandecent
what does the box say the lumens are?

haha whoa dude im new at this. i know what lumens are but it doesnt say on the box. what is incandescent? i got the bulb and ballast at home depot.

is it this one i bet it is and it is 6700 lumens

a incandescent is the old style lights that cfls replace and on a cfl it say something like 23 watts - 100 watt incandescent equivilent so people that are new assume they have a 100 watt it means nothing it is still 23 watts so u go by lumens

thats the bulb. well thats sweet cause my plants are only a foot or so tall now. there are only three of them and the space is like 2 ft wide 2 ft long and 6 ft tall. its an old gun cabinet pretty much. there isnt much heat. it should do fine right? i dont really care about how much i get i just wanna flower them and watch them grow

do u have a fan to exhaust heat u need one

3 feet is way to far away if u meant your lights try a foot or they will stretch like hell
put your hand under light and when it isnt hot on your hand then u know how far to put light
I got 400 watters a foot off plants same with my 250 w

how big of a space do you have?? cause i only have a narrow tall wooden gun cabinet. i have one hole for ventilation but its probably not enough and i have one small fan. it doesnt get too hot in there but it gets kinda warm starting at about 2 feet away. like sweaty warm.

i have one room 3x8 and another 3x4
where is fan mounted, is it pulling air out? and where is air intake hole
u need light about a foot off plants and the sweaty warm heat is from improper air circulation not from bulb being to close

alright well the only reason im making such a biggie out of it is cause one of the plants is my friends and he thinks itll burn it. but i dont. so i guess ill just raise my plants up and leave his and when he sees that mines doing better he may change his mind.

great ideal and when his is stretched he will think his is growing faster and better then yours till it falls over from being top heavy or u could educate him show him what is recommended height
