So....how many are familiar with the term "The 5th Column" ?

Do you suppose that the Americans who have been trained in Syria and Iraq, and have returned/ are returning, are here to carry out individual or group attacks?

Of course.......interrupting the Bush fault/ Obama fault / U S at fault / cover up / conspiracy debate to point out that the enemy continues to advance among the squabbling is probably rude. A fart in the wind no one pays attention to. Bill Maher is largely an ignorant blow hard and that video is good evidence of such. All pro authoritarians (aka most commonly religious types) types are subject to those kinds of beliefs. Every single one of them. They're all pro authoritarian types who want to impose their will on others. If Christian the most extreme leaders advocated loudly and were given the loudest voice (ie: Saudi Arabia where extreme nutters run the country sanctioned by the West) they'd all believe the same things.

There is a natural inclination amongst a specific subset of humanity (and not a small one) to want to persecute those different from them and to submit to authority. Experiments have demonstrated they will happily allow their leaders to get away with murder in the name of change they view positively or to maintain the status quo.

Look at Nazi Germany and everything that happened there. It was this subset of people who really made it happen in conjunction with the authoritarian leader types. Same kind of people who these authoritarian leadership nutters appeal to everywhere. Those who follow said individuals, through cognitive dissonance largely, will continue to follow them almost no matter what.

Maher just attempts to divide people. He's a real cunt as far as I can tell.

Also worth noting is the intelligence agencies largely responsible for all of this are EXTRMELY WELL AWARE of how humans typically respond, this authoritarian minded group etc. And they use these things to generate the responses they want to get.

Just about as on point as anything that comes out of Rush Limbaugh's mouth.
To the far left it is gospel. Just like everything Rush says is gospel to the far right.
I take both with a grain of salt and would never quote either to back up a point.

It's probably no surprise that I can't stand Maher.

I wouldn't mind knowing what you agree with him about, however. So...if you could summarize, and spare me the vid, there's a low five in it for you. :bigjoint:

BTW - bombs are dropping in Syria on ISIS locations as I type. The coalition is - get this - the US, and five Arab sunni countries !! :shock:

I hate to suggest that the lamb has surrounded itself by wolves - in the land of the wolf. Luckily, I don't have to........as Muslim allies are known for never turning against us. [I'd put an LOL after that for the sarcasm, but there's really no humor there.]

Yes, the latter. He has long since lost any credibility to me same as Rush. Anything they say I will suspect to be a great distortion of the real truth.

I have a great Aunt who lived through the Holocaust. She was Jewish and managed to escape via Africa. She compared what is happening to Muslims to what happened to Jews of that era in terms of demonization etc. To me, it is a great concern.

And those extremists without the cash and arms they receive from authoritarians who benefit from their extremism would be nothing.

I'm an atheist, so I kinda think every religion is nonsense, but if I had to put in order which I feel is the most crazy, Islam takes the cake hands down. I cannot tolerate that kind of intolerance. They treat cattle better than they do women

It its possible to agree with some one you don't personally care for. Someone who I've came around to, as well as respect in that regard would be Colin Powell.

I enjoy Maher. I don't always agree with him. He certainly wouldn't be my spokesperson as you seem to deduce from the post. Difference between Maher and that fat slob of a man, is the slob has more money, more influence, a drug problem, and way too much hate for anyone but the white man. Miles apart in comparison.

Plus I don't think Rush is even capable of having divergent viewpoints or intellectual conversation, unlike Maher having guests of all stripes while being civil.

Both are in the entertainment business, and they know the audience to which they serve.
