"get high" multi strain SCROG grow & breeding session

honestly, i don't like grow reports much as so many of them that i've read at other sites show a lot of pretty pics, talk forever about nutes and temps, but then at the end cheat the reader out of the most important part, the SMOKE REPORT! nothing else matters to me, but i'm going to try and make a point of documenting this grow MOSTLY to keep a record of flowering times so that i get harvest times right and get more viable seeds than i did my first grow with a C99 male spraying cindys, a haze skunk and an LSD shorty. i'm also doing it to appease the community that doesn't like smoke reports only as so many of you have a problem taking anyone's word on their experiences
if you don't have any pictures, it never happened
i feel the same way about grow report that cheat on detailed smoke reports... if you don't tell me how the shit actually smoked using ADJECTIVES... you've said NOTHING useful no matter how many pics you took. you can't get high off a pic!

the goal this time is to use a joey weed C99 x A11 to spray everything and shorten the flowering times of the 9 weeks+ strains if one of my two plants is a male. plan B is to use a jack's cleaner male even though i've never tried that strain yet because of TGA subcool's rep for producing strains that really do get you high and being above average as at 9 weeks flowering time, it will be one of my fastest flowerers after the C99s and the masterkush shortys i'm growing for fun and to test for possible breeding programs.

my room will have one 400w halide and one 400w sodium with a 3 foot by 3 foot SCROG screen hanging under each light. i'll get a pic of the rig once i start flowering and get both lights running.

other than testing new strains for future keepers and to be able to report on their differences, i want to get enough seeds that i'll be set for future grows and breeding and hopefully ALWAYS have a head stash of high quality bud with no couchlock. anything more than i need will be someone else's freebie. this is a grow purely for love & pride.

as it stands, these are the plants i have under 24 hour shop lights that are mostly a week old with a couple plants being recent additions.

malawi gold 4x
jack's cleaner 2 3x
thai skunk 3x
C99 x A11 2x with any male planned as my breeder
C99 x super cali haze 1x i really want to work this combo for a fast flowering haze that has a grape flavor. if lowryding SCH weren't a 120 day strain, i'd use this plant as a breeder if it's a male, but i plan on using the C99 BXes, the rest of the C99 x SCHs and 1 or both of my SCH fems for a "grapes & fruit" breeding session next fall
haze skunk 1x but it's looking mutated. this is the best smoking strain i've grown so far. i'm hoping that the thai skunks are similar and hopefully as trippy. haze skunk is really good for dieting and helped me stop drinking last winter while i had it.
mozambique poison 1x
amnesia haze 1x fem this is rokerij's cambodian based version and not authentic amnesia simply because i like the sound of it's peppery flavor description as ORIGINAL crushed red pepper tasting kali mist was the most delicious bud i've ever smoked. sweets & fruits aren't my favorite flavors
auto jack 1x fem
sweet haze 1x fem
thai fantasy 1x fem
columbian gold (50%) 1x fem
sour cream
1x fem
sativa trans love 1x fem
masterkush 3x (possibly 4 as 1 labled "?" sprouted with something else)

i just transplanted these 3 plants to cups from seeds i'm sprouting in a humidity dome
C99 BX 2x
jack 1x fem
i also am trying to sprout haze skunk x C99s & LSD x C99s, but so far none of those has popped.

to make up for all of the sprouts i lost to both mold and drying in pellets in my humidity dome, i just put all of these in pellets after using the 2 day soak method
thai skunk 5x more
eldorado 5x
unknown bagseed #1 3x
unknown bagseed #2 4x
lemon haze 1x fem
white russian 1x fem

i have some promising grapes & pine tasting mid bagseed i'm saving for next fall and an earlier start than this grow.

i'm not big on taking pics, but this is what the gear under the shop light looked like a couple days ago
february 2012 starters.jpg

if i can't find anything in here that i like smoking, well, i just don't know! i expect to love it all though as the only strain i've grown that's been advertised as getting one high and/or being trippy that disappointed me was LSD because of the creeper stone pheno i got, but it was still way better than street bud as it started out with a high with lead eye before delivering a KO an hour or two later. the strains that i was most excited to grow were the ones i had the most trouble sprouting and/or maintaining... C99 x A11, haze skunk, 8 miles high and i'm down to my last columbian gold out of 3 fems.

i'm most excited to test jack's cleaner 2. a trippy 9 week flowering strain that tastes like lemon could potentially become my new favorite as haze skunk is a 12 week strain i believe and i'm not keen on it's yucky cigar wrapper flavor. lemon is much tastier sounding and TGA has a rep for superior gear. i'm expecting the pure IBL (?) malawi gold to be awesome smoke, but possibly as much of a pain to grow as highland thai. any of those that are female are going to go to the center of the screens with the fastest flowering strains going on the outside edges so the slower strains have room to spread out and get more light as sativas need more light generally.

you might want to see bud pics when all is said and done, but my biggest goal here is to be able to share each strain's THC personality and compare everything to each other so anyone looking for strains that get you high has better info than they can get just from product descriptions that might be more hype than reality. good smoke reporting is hard to come by although it's covered much better here than at other forums. i don't believe in rating strains on numeric scales though except to get those who can't pull a decent smoke report out of their ass to save their lives to say something more informative than "man this shit is DANK!" or "best shit i ever smoked!". i'll be looking for the subtle differences between each comparing flavors, potencies, euphoria, coucklock, motivation, expansion, harshness, spaciness, paranoia, trippiness and length of buzz etc. so you, the intrepid reader have a clue of the potential phenos to expect from each strain without my selecting keepers from fields of 100 ladies. i'm not that serious about getting that last tiny bit of excellence from any plants. i'm just sick & tired of seeing NOTHING but stoner bud on the streets for over 25 years. ANY high, even a weak one is good enough for me while any couchlock is something to be avoided. trippy & euphoric are my favorite traits.

here's to hoping that you get some interesting lowdown from all this and that i'l be getting high as a mofo by next summer and get back to dieting and exercise.

any tips anyone can offer on growing and especially SCROGging are greatly appreciated. i'll be using bark fines based organic soils with composted manure, earthworm castings, vegan fertilyzer and organic grow & bloom teas.

the BIGGEST improvement i'll be making over my 1st grow will probably be letting everything vedge longer as i started all of my gals flowering on the 3rd leafset as that's what i'm pretty sure used to be recommended by grow guides back at the birth of indoor growing when all you heard about was sea of green though i bet the sodium bulb improves growth too. the sodium lamp is definitely brighter. i'll be using a real fan to cool my lights too this time. i skimped every penny i could my first grow and decided to invest in the best materials this time around. i want happy chubby well fed preggers this time.

nope... i just bought joey weed C99 3-4 times and back crossed it on my first grow and made sure to grab a pack of C99xA11s once i realized his stuff was vanishing at hempdepot. i still have 2 C99xblueberry beans i'm saving for next fall's grapes & fruit grow. i really wanted to grow super cali haze this year, but at 120 days flowering, it's too late.

i've bought A LOT of beans over the years in my pursuit of getting high again.

my first purchases a few years ago
bean collection 800 X 600 b.jpg

here's my last order
New Years Beans.jpg

the order before that
SCORE 12-14-11.jpg

here's what i had in back stock before starting this grow including my bagseed (i had a BITCHIN' collection of up to 30 or more bagseed strains including a bunch of deifferent mexican commercials back in the 90s)
back stock.jpg

here's my packaging collection from all of these orders and a couple others
old stock.jpg

and finally, here's all of the C99 sprayed beans i bred the first time i got serious and finished what i started
C99 crosses.jpg

the viability is low on these as i harvested when the beans looked full size thinking that meant they were mature. you can see particularly in the "early mix" that the beans are pretty green. i tried popping various ones several times, especially from the early mix until i started getting SOME results trying a dozen or more at a time from each bag. the bags with just a couple beans each were probably sprayed by a full moon thai that turned hermie when it FINALLY decided to START flowering after being transplanted twice and i collected all the other seeds. i never even tried popping the super cali haze x C99s until a few days ago as those are almost irreplaceable as joey weed's grape pheno C99s are only in the hands of collectors now and i want to use it to try and speed up super cali haze without damaging the delicious grape flavor. i'm not as worried now though as i know i can get enough C99 BXes to pop to breed a 2nd time, but i'm worried about waning vigor from inbreeding.

if you're impressed by my beans, you should see this one member's collection! it's fucking sick! dude has a briefcase with compartments full of vials with printed labels like he's james bond! LOL i'm way more casual. i have fun growing and just want to blaze the strains that don't make it to the streets.

i don't have ANY connection at the moment. short of wandering the streets saying "where's that bud at?" to everyone, i'm not going to have anything to blaze until i grow it myself

you know, mosca is growing potent pineapple pheno C99 nowadays, though he's sold out at the moment as is bodhi's genius pheno A11s. both should be pretty good. i'm looking to pick both up for next year when they're back in stock as those are the 2 "best" strains for breeding faster plants that aren't stoney like all of the afghani based hybrids.

as i'm just growing for my own stash, i like to breed with every grow for fun and to hook anyone i toss a bud to up with nice genetics. besides, like any woman, i think the gals are happier when they get knocked up.

all 5 of the 2nd batch of thai haze popped quick and healthy along with some fem and a couple of the bagseed #1s. as before, the el dorados are taking their time and i'm not getting anything more out of my C99s or crosses with super cali haze & haze skunk.

the pure haze skunk might just have been getting old or off to a bad start. the 3rd leafsets are looking right on it now. i hope that one's a female as it's sister was the best plant i've ever grown & smoked so far.

i don't know WTF is up with my masterkush. they're all tiny and dark green with one that's huge and lime green. the big one is a little funky though. i don't know why, but a lot of the plants are looking like miniatures on their 2nd & third leafsets, but not much more than an inch in diameter. maybe the earthworm castings in the soil mix are too much for them

i also don't know what's up with the person that was riffing on high quality seeds' germ rates as i've been close to 100% with 3 packs of haze skunk, 1 of thai skunk and 1 of masterkush if black label seeds really is a sister company as someone claimed. i had bad luck this year with mold and drying out, but that's because i've been using hard to regulate pellets crammed in a humidity dome instead of a better buffered 16oz cup.

i'm going to have to raise at least one shoplight as the kids are starting to top out. they're also going to have to make room for the 5 thai skunks and the super lemon haze. that was the one i forgot. it hasn't cracked it's shell yet, but it's standing tall and showing a lot of root fuzz. once i push it down in a cup, it should be able pig out & pop quickly. the humidity dome is on the opposite side of the room, so it's not getting much light, but i've been replanting everything as soon as it pops. i gave a few of the thai skunks a little help out of their shells and a membrane or two with a toothpick. if you carefully use the tip of the toothpick like a crowbar where the shell hinges you can usually pop the shell but leave it alone if it just isn't budging. even though it's much softer, doing the same thing with the membrane is a little harder because it's more pliable and in direct contact with the primordae. i'd snapped one of the primordae in half a couple times trying to force the inner membrane off. i like to get them soaking up rays as soon as possible.

here's a look at my setup. the light on the left is my original luminaire 6 x 400w halide and the one on the right is the new V.2 hood with polished silver added to the ends inside as well as having a cool hinged lens. on top of the black wire rack on the left supporting the two 2x4s the lights are hanging from you can see one of my purple lumatek digital ballasts. i have the older model that i got with the halide and the V.2 of that has a cool multiple voltage setting knob that i think does 250w as well as 400w along with a 420w HO setting. i think the old ballast has that too one of it's WTF? buttons.

room setup.jpg

when they're up and running, the ducts will start with a DIY carbon scrubber on the intake feeding one of the lights & then the other into my soler & palau fan probably with a DIY combo muffler & light shield with cool air being drawn in at the bottom using convection.

i'll be hanging the 2 SCROG screens i've started building from the frame holding the lights as well as building flat white reflectors that are flush to the edges of the screens and nearly flush with the lights for maximum reflection and diffusion and hopefully shielding some light leakage.

the spare room is kind of small so i'll have to squeeze past the black wire rack to get to the back side of the screen for watering and managing the SCROG. that's the best tech to use with a mixed strain grow as well as being a pretty good supercropping tech too.

in the background you can see the mylar insulation blocking most light leakage with a cardboard frame with a foil gasket blocking some more leakage behind it. there's boxes on each side of the window there to push the mylar against the wall as well as some freestanding 2x4s in the middle. it's very low tech, but designed to be tore down quickly in an emergency as well as put up in the first place after learning how much of a pain doing it with 100 or so thumbtacks last year.

mmmmmmmmm look at all them goodies!
View attachment 2051946

too bad a lot of them have balls, but there should be enough going on in there to get me nice for at least a week i bet! one of the eldorados finally popped. that one's a little slow to start, but it'll be outstretching most of it's neighbors soon. i just had to take a pic after i remade labels for everything because the red dollar store "sharpie" on masking tape thing wasn't working after the color started fading & bleeding. this way i don't have to use abbreviations anymore either. i kept thinking thai fantasy was fruity thai and forget other strains when i have a brain fart. it makes it easier for rollitup to know what's what.

i mixed up a liter bottle of water and 3-4 spoon handle dips worth of seaweed extract for watering everything and to hopefully stimulate rooting. i'm not liking cocoa coir pellets. i'm wondering if they're the reason everything looks like it's flowering on the small side. i know SOME of the plants have some upward rooting to do which takes time, but not all of them. i don't want to use it when i replant though as i still think that's what gave some of the plants i harvested the latest an oily taste. in a couple weeks i'll do the same thing with some organic flowering mix and i have a bloom mix too and everything but the early flowering strains are going into two gallon pots and the 50-60 day strains will go into something like 1.25 gallon pots as the C99 root clusters from last year never filled up their 2 gallon pots.

the planned potting mix will be something like 2 parts happy frog organic soil, 2 parts eco grow organic, 1 part composted manure, maybe some mushroom compost if i still have any though i'm not liking the slimy chicken compost i used before at all. that's the other thing i think could have caused the oily taste as it had all kinds of tiny bits of garbage in it like plastic bag material. seemed like landfill almost.

i also have a bunch of earthworm castings i'll be putting something like 1/2 a cup of in each pot along with maybe the same of a vegan fert that's basically just a bunch of different grains. i also have a bag of vermiculite in case the main soils don't have any for nice aeration. the moisture meter will really help a lot there.

i can fit 24 of the 2 gallon pots under the two screens which each fit 4x3 pots with a little space with plans on putting the quick flowering strains on the outside or even stacked on top of the pots for all of the 10 week+ strains.

i'm not planning on doing any punching as i have more than enough plants to give me top colas as/is. i just want everything to get the light it needs without wasting that and space growing vertically. if i only get 200 grams per square meter, i'll be more than set 'till fall and i plan on getting an early start including cloning for next grow.

i can't wait to test the crosses with the best strains in this grow like jack's cleaner & thai skunk x (C99 x A11) and plan to get some mosca C99 and bodhi A11 genius to test those for future breeding. after that, i want to do a "grapes & fruits" breeding session using one or both of my super cali hazes along with clones from whatever my best C99 BX is and a mildly stony mid i called grapes & pine, my last 2 "tart cherry" buddha's sister x G13 haze, my pineapple chunk fem, a C99 X blueberry, probably some more jack's cleaner 2 if that turns out awesome and maybe one of the thai hybrids if any of those turn out tasty & fun. the plan there is to use a grapey super cali haze x C99 male unless the one i have now is a female and turns out crappy, but i might end up using buddha's sister if one is a male just because it's a $100+ strain i'm not keen on re-ordering. i'll probably score another fruity strain or two like lemon skunk or and/or durban poison.

nothing to harvest today thought. just wait wait wait wait and then... WEIGHT!

i lost the 2 mozambique poisons as well as the other 2 freebies, but did get one holy smokes malawi gold gal that's way more manageable than sativa seeds' full moon which just doesn't want to flower ever. i did sample a wee bit of early malawi in topping and it seemed promising if not psychoactive yet. i will say that it's flavor is likely to be nicer than it's haze skunk sister, but the description makes it sound more euphoric than trippy. if that's the case, i like haze skunk better. that one is for real on the getting high only with potency department. there were some very mild hints of a wheaty lemon flavor with the malawi whose leaves like to curl inwards and it was definitely an alert early buzz where the fussy full moons that refused to flower tested almost pure couchlock once they finally started hermie-ing right at the start of flowering last year. if it turns out as good as i hope, i still have almost a full pack more for future grows. if i were looking for "durban poison" again, i might be inclined to try holy smokes again.

the real surprising strain so far is sativa trans love, after the not too bad masterkush mids, it's about the fastest flowering and resinous strain. it started out with a distinctive odor in early flowering that totally reminded me of the smell of old silicone rubber worm lures, but now is more floral and fruity.

had some heat damage to a few of the tops, particularly the jack's cleaner 2s right under the light. i forgot to turn my fan on a couple hours the other day and stressed some leaves, but most of the plants are still going strong. i moved the fan's power to the light timer so it's a no brainer now. i started out running it 24/7.

there's just a little bit of odor starting to show at times. if it keeps up, i'm going to finish building the carbon scrubber i'm making out of a couple milk crates. it's really nothing much though even with 20 gals all in budding. just 1 little white castle or hashberry gal stinks more than the entire grow right at the start of flowering. several of the strains have virtually no odor. i was expecting the jacks to be skunky, but so far they're low odor with the JC2s being the loudest probably.

the masterkush is unusual. it seems like i have at least 2 phenos and possibly a 3rd. either one is golden yellow, or is just rooted to the bottom couple inches of cup. two of the others are normal deep green and the last one has a really cool dark reddish purple color that is very deep. i plan on keeping that one around for color breeding. it's not really a purple. it's more like a black cherry color. in theory, they should be finished in just a week, but i'm going to let them go longer for the seeds to fully mature as they were 2-3 weeks into flowering before the C99xA11 males started doing his thing. i'm going to collect a few separate samples of it's bright yellow pollen for future use as it's an "extinct pheno" now.

the "sweet haze" is really stretchy, but cooperates with flowering and is a good candidate for scroigging. it started developing a delicious not quite grape fruity odor that's nice. a lot of the strains are fruity. even the masterkush a little.

it's exciting looking at all of the plants, but they're so early in flowering that it LOOKS like there won't be much bud in the end, but when i thought about it, even if i can only get 300 grams in the end, it should be enough to get me through the start of next season when i should have enough seeds to plant extras for early sampling and testing of with the crosses i've made. the C99 back cross i made is stretchier than it's mother was. it must have been from the "long tall cindy" mom.

i'm really proud of my super cali haze x C99 cross. it's looking healthy and i hope it mixes the best traits of each parent, particularly the SCH flavor and C99 flowering time & thick budding. even if none of the other remaining ones pop next year when i do the fruit salad grow, i'll at least have (SCH x C99) x (C99 x A11)s which should be a very nice mostly C99 pheno and hopefully a little psychoactive.

every week feels like a month. i really need to start looking flowering times up to plan harvest times using this really cool calendar calculator you can use to add flowering times to a date and see when harvest is
http://www.timeanddate.com/date/dateadd.html

between topping plants down for height and colas and up to remove shade growth, i've gotten some nice buzz testing stuff. i'd like to just pop all the buds of that STL right now, but i want to make sure it's seeds are mature. i think it has a few weeks more to go easy, but it's looking nice right now and the early popcorn i tested before clearing out everything but the tops was anything but shabby and that's before it started showing it's fruity side.

when i finally topped the sour cream, i was a little disappointed that it has some stone going on, but it was a freebie and i bet some C99 energy could only improve it.

even though it's recommended to use 1 teaspoon per gallon every two weeks of organic ferts, i've been dipping a butterknife and rinsing it of liquid kelp, grow & bloom formulae in the spring water bottle i use for feeding on about a weekly basis, especially because i haven't transplanted yet.

despite the ragging that rokerij seems to get for cheap schwag, i'm liking what i'm seeing out of their version of amnesia haze so far. it's looking like it will be better than most even high end indicas and at least get smokers a little high based on some early testing. that one has some haze fruitiness going on. i don't know where the alleged spicy taste is, but it's just staring flowering.

most of the strains are only just starting to fill out now. surprisingly, the thai skunks are showing crystals even if the early buds are still scrawny, but they might wind up nicely fluffy. i can see seed pods clear to the center on those.

so many buds... and so much time to keep waiting. at least i KNOW with 110% certainty that i'll like a lot of the gear. the masterkush is better than expected and the sour cream is "OK" in the freedom from couchlock department and everything else is indicating up & alert buzzes as hoped. even the "dreaded" super lemon haze is starting to look like it wants to blaze some kindness now after a rough start and hasn't turned rue paul yet.

well... the grow is over already and was mostly only good as a breeding session. between using the "prune anything but your top colas" technique for SCROGging and breeding too, my poor gals were overstressed. they gave up their remaining fan leaves just to make seeds. the buds on anything i pruned were scrawny & airy with few seeds per bud. not only that, but i forgot to turn my fan on one night and heat stress took it's toll on the taller plants i hadn't pruned making their leaves yellow with dark spots before dying so i just harvested for seeds.

the reporting on the strains isn't as good as i'd hoped, but almost everything smoked at least pretty good. many of the strains smoked very similar... haze fruity odors with clear headed motivational & euphoric highs. the "loser" of the bunch turned out to be stony leaning sour cream and it's moderate odor later in flowering. after the middy masterkush that was only a little stony and not too different from skunk #1, everything else smoked nicely. i never needed to build my carbon scrubber though. some of the strains had virtually no odor at all.

the real standout of the grow was the jack's cleaner 2. the lemon hints were very subtle and even low down, it was hit pretty hard by lamp heat, but it hinted at some AWESOME smoke. there was some creeper stone going on, but it was giving me some NICE fucking psychoactivity. if it were grown normally and not stressed by heat, seeding and pruning it would be the best shit i've ever grown except the malawi which REALLY hates heat. it had this weird effect similar to diesel based onyx in that it was really "touchy feely", but it gave the strangest sensation that there were tie dye like colored ripples in my skin whenever i touched myself. holy crap that was cool if very subtle. i couldn't see any colors or anything, but i perceived them in my head. at full strength, if that one isn't stony, it IS my new favorite as hoped. i WILL try that one again and will use it as my male breeder. i have literal "high hopes" for my jacks cleaner 2 x (C99 x A11)s. that should produce something that smokes great with a reasonably fast flowering.

here's the specifics i can remember about each strain. i have notes i wrote somewhere i intended to post detailing each strain's personality in early flowering.

malawi gold - much more flowering friendly than highland thai! although i lost it early, it started right into flowering when switched and the smoke was very promising. i got some seeds from it (the fan leaves helped here i'm sure) and will try it again next time. malawi gold x jack's cleaner 2 might be insane shit if not fast & compact. it also had a really distinctive form of leaf curl where the leaves curled in on themselves like claws. i really want to let this gal do her thing next time when i finally get everything right.

jack's cleaner 2 -
awesome THC profile that has genuine sensory effects! BOOYAH! this and haze skunk are my two favorite strains. the HS is more potent maybe, but not as sensory and the taste isn't a favorite

thai skunk -
not as good as HQS' haze skunk. it actually smoked a lot like all of the jacks and hazes. it was nice though especially for the price, but the haze skunk is the best bargain for getting really high i know of so far. this one had the sparsest buds. it was easy to break each pod open individually

super cali haze
x C99 - i'm soo proud of this one! it didn't have the grapey flavor i was hoping for, but it was fruity and probably closer to a haze than C99. it was my first hybrid cross i got to test besides a C99bx.

amnesia haze (rokerij) - great value! was not embarrased by most of the strains at all. for an $8 or seed you could clone, you could get a shitload of clear headed euphoric motivation and fruitiness that beats the living shit out of dealer strains. it might not have been distinctive in this field of strains, but it matched pricier ones with a very similar plant. the rumors i'd read that they're just cheap schwag are bogus. it got me high enough that i'm happy with it just like almost everything else

sweet haze - stretchier than most of the plants here, but was also one of the earliest resin producers, had some more kick to it's buzz, was really fruity smelling early and i THINK it was the absolute stickiest strain i grew. if it was, it's buds were like glue. i think it might also have been the strain with the biggest seeds. it made up for it's lanky habit with a fast flowering start and superior buds. good shit! it had the fruitiest odor too, very sexy!

thai fantasy
- was pretty similar to the "fruity jacks". nothing wrong with that.

sour cream - eh... stoners would like it better than me. it's a really interesting odor though.

sativa trans love - AWESOME! this strain had the most compact structure, fast flowering, fast resin production and a nice buzz. the smoke was like many of the strains, but this one pulls it off like a lowryder practically. was the absolute flowering champ for getting high. only the masterkush was faster, but nowhere near as special. it had a really weird odor early in flowering just like that funky smell you get in tackle boxes from silicone worms, but it faded to a nicer fruity odor late in flowering. i WILL be working with this one as it looks like a good breeder for quick "haze" grows. so far, i'd say it's the most indoor & yield friendly strain with a true high. it simply stopped stretching dead in it's tracks as soon as i flipped it and left the other strains in the dust.

masterkush - it had a nice enough mid buzz that wasn't KO stony and was super fast & compact. i'm thinking it's a lowryder as it started flowering while still under 24 hours of light. it had at least 2 clear phenos, possibly 3m that all smoked similarly, but looked different. one turned out golden and was the stretchiest, 2-3 of them were shorter & deep green, but the one i'm keeping for my own breeding had bright dark red pods that would be nice for trying to work a color strain. the color eventually faded to more of a rust brown, but early on, it just had a cool intense red like you see sometimes on anodized aluminum. kind of like a "flourescent burgundy". it's a total keeper for cash cropping or shrinking sativas without adding any KO stone. it was the second funkiest strain, but wasn't skunky.

jack -
another "fruity haze". no complaints there

super lemon haze
- THE schwag plant of the grow. it was a freebie, but now i can add my voice to the "fuck greenhouse!" party. it was the absolute slowest flowering strain, even slower than malawi gold (!!!!!!!) and it started out with twisted mutant leaves before resuming normal growth. the smoke compared to the average strain here, but it took too long and started out funky. other strains did the same thing faster and healthier. i will say though that it didn't turn hermie though.

C99bx (joey weed "extinct" pheno) - was fine, but under the sodium, it stretched more than the halide that bred it and like the super cali haze cross, didn't have that slight grape odor i was hoping for. i'm inclined to think that halides bring more fruit, or at least grape, flavors out of a strain. ALL of the originals, both tall & short pheno, had nice but subtle grape odors. the high was about the same though

and that's that. i'll take a pic of the most mature seeds after the cure some. while i didn't get the yield per plant that i did my first grow, i learned not to mix pruning and breeding or to try and throw a grow together at the last minute when you're running late in the season. that played a part in my results too. i'm POSITIVE too that i have way more viable seeds than my first grow as many of them were dark brown or black mottled instead of the greener low viability beans from my first grow. i didn't get the results i was hoping for and won't have a summer of smoke to play with, but i'll have more than enough seeds to both fill a garden with a few extras to pick at along the way as i tried to do with the masterkush. the PLAN was to let all of my gals go into flowering and the prune from the bottom up as well as mow the plants top down until arriving at a "top cola" layer at the 3rd or 4th node in each plant taking popcorn along the way. the popcorn part worked, but the remaining buds did not grow into giant colas and just put more energy than they could bear into making seeds, but at least all of my gals got knocked up & hopefully happy. now i've learned another thing or two not to do.

the top "keepers" for me would be:
jack's cleaner 2 - not just high, but TRIPPY! at full strength, i bet it kicks much ass!
sativa trans love - fruitier and more compact than C99... great for yields and good all around quality
masterkush (red pheno) - now i have color genetics as well as something comparable to cash cropping med use strains. the C99 x A11 i used on it should only make it better in THC profile. it looks to be the start of my "med use" (read stony) breeding program.
sweet haze - reminded me a lot of super cali haze, but fruitier & clonable. it's a really nice doable haze. this strain would kick ass in a scrog where you can overlap all of your plants.

the only 3 plants i wasn't impressed by were the super lemon haze, sour cream and masterkush. the kush was OK, but anything but stone free. it was functional too though. the SLH smoked nice enough, but other plants beat it to the finish line doing the same things.

if i find my notes, i'll see what other differences i can com up with, particularly in early flowering odor profiles. a couple of them are perfect for TRUE outdoor porch stealth grows though almost everything was lower odor than cash cropper strains. even the sour cream was probably lower odor than average than most strains. i REALLY want to see what's up with the malawi golds though. in theory, it should be sick as a mofo and it's a doable plant unlike that stubborn ass highland thai hermie bitch with the sexy tutti fruity odor.

here's to hoping this helps someone.

just stopping in to show off the "fruits of my labor" as i took a pic of the beans from my favorite crosses. i culled all of the green looking beans as i learned those aren't likely to be too viable from my first grow and didn't take pics of everything as so many strains were similarly "generic haze" including my own fruity booty 1.0 cross, but i took a pic of that and my C99 bx x (C99 x A11) as those are second generation "pride" crosses. all of other the strains in the pic have SOME breed worthy quality i want to preserve. i especially would like to try the malawi gold cross as i'd expect it to be potentially better than haze skunk, NL haze, blue dream & G13 haze etc. as those are all based on boring stony strains crossed with haze, possibly even a watered down generic haze, where cinderella is motivational, apollo 11 should be at least mildly trippy and the malawi gold should be an extra trippy IBL in theory. the sweet haze cross will likely inherit the fruity booty moniker from my original super cali haze x C99 cross.

anyways, for all of those who'd rather look at a pic than read a smoke report, here's the gear i want to test or even breed with further in the future:
