Thinking of remaking all of my light's frames using that makerbeam someone posted a while back. I have 3- cob bars with 4x cxb3590's in a 4.5"x4.5"x 83" flower tent. And a 4x4x7 veg soon to be flower tent with 8xqb120's And the itty bitty tent. 20"×36"×63" with the 2 96's going in it.
I see they have a a makerbeam kit with all the sizes and accessories, screws, brackets, etc included.
Has anyone ever bought the kit or just the individual beam packages?
Eventually all or the majority of my lights will be hybrids of qb120's cobs and qb96 elite v2's

edited for mistakes and add-ons.

Adjacent edges

Yup, on my way back to ho de po. Cut them 2.5" too short.
Eventually, All my fixtures will be makerbeams and those little black energy meters that were linked earlier in the thread.
Calling all diy frame design engineers...I'm gonna need some assistance..lol!

@pulpoinspace your new avatar pic is of this 96 elite grown bud?
Nicely done
the avatar is the same strain but actually a COB grown bud

not sure if it was the temperature or the added reds but this run under the 96s the buds actually picked up a little color you can see in the pic i posted above

also, not sure if its the added reds but i swear this run stinks to high heaven too!

Funny, I was thinking the same thing, in a 3x3 tent light is already vertical but want to spread out more. 12 cxb3590 currently on a 20" x 24" frame, want to do 24x36.
Haven't pulled the trigger but have some amazon gift cards...

I wanted to grab the kit. Figure I could get a couple of frames out of it.

I like the idea that the cobs, boards and 96's don't have to be stationary and can be positioned a few inches left or right if needed.

Really looking forward to flowering (eight 288s + four 96s + far red bar) vs (six 96s + far red bar).

Just finishing up grow with the 288 array above - 776w at the wall:

Big “diesel” (back left) and haze (back right) lowers not yet harvested:

View attachment 4237968

Front “diesel” - 270.5g/9.7oz
Front haze - 304.0g/10.9oz
Back “diesel” tops - 386.5g/13.8oz
Back haze tops - 413.0g/14.75

Total so far: 1374g/49.1oz/3.1lbs

Still to go:

For anyone using six 96s in a 4x4, here is a quick & dirty starting point for easy propagation thru harvest intensity:

Put your six 96s in the layout i posted earlier, hang ~36”, @ 120w/light:

For prop - move one of the middle ones closer to the center of tent, turn just that one on, use your light meter to adj position so you get same perimeter intensity near all walls of tent, should be 100-150 ppfd across footprint, adjust dimmer to nail. Use this from cotyledons to 2nd true node, then switch to,

For early veg: put single light back to original position, turn on both middle lights, this should give 250-300ppfd across footprint, adjust dimmers to nail. Use this from 2nd true node to 6 true nodes, then switch to,

Mid-late veg: turn off middle lights, turn on 4 corner lights, this should give you 450-550ppfd across footprint, adjust dimmer and/or ht to nail. Use this 6 true nodes till end of veg (max 600 ppfd).

12:12: drop lights to ~18”, continue at 120w, turn on all 6 to get ~1000ppfd across footprint, adjust dimmer 120-140w to nail. Keep light at 18” gap thru harvest...

If you use a lux meter to approximate ppfd:
put your lights-frame together, adjust wattage to 120w, measure lumens at 18” height around your tent, divide lumens by 67 to get a ppfd approximation, should be close to my ppfd measurements in table for six 96s. If not similar, take lumens meassured and divide by my ppfd at that location to get your meter’s ppfd conversion factor..

All the significant mapping info i have posted on the 96s is posted/linked in post # 5, at https://forum.grasscity.com/threads/qb96elite-v2-no-bs-information-only.1521830/

Enjoy
