Too warm. Can you find a cooler spot to prolong the drying time for a slower dry and better cure? I can take up to 5 weeks getting mine dry enough to put in jars and start burping for a month. Smooth smoke.
My last grow I used doubled up paper bags and dumped them out into a big tray each day for 15min. I kept them down in my nice cool basement outside the grow room where the temps were round 45F and it took around 10 days to get them dry enough to can and start burping. I do all my trimming fresh off the plant tho there's no reason the buds couldn't be left for final trim before putting in jars slightly moist. A spare fridge at it's warmest setting would do in a pinch as well.
When you hang dry the outer surface of the bud gets bone dry while the center is still wet. Any of the bud that gets dry will not cure even if re-moistened so if kept enclosed so drying is even and slow a much better cure can be had. End up with nice golden/green bud that doesn't harsh your throat.
Fresh off the plant. OG#18 last June.
