This year I plan to grow outdoor and need some advice. What can I do to protect my plants from being stolen??? I was thinking about electric fencing but the ones I found are small and people could just jump over it...so any suggestions?

Do you not have a fence? Personally if your yard is too open I won't even waste the time trying to grow there. If you do I'd invest in a good lock, a number of motion activated lights, a dog and then I'd do some work hiding your plants. Try planting some bushes around the edge and perhaps some similarly sized plants directly around your pot. You could also disguise your plants with plastic flowers.

Since they're in your back yard, you could get a dog with a protective personality and put his dog house close enough to where he could rip a hole in someone's ass if they make the mistake of trying to rip your plants. Or get a solar powered electric fence charger, electric fence wire, insulators, and set some 10' posts about 3' deep in the ground and build your own electrified cage with about 10-15 wraps of that hotwire around them babies. Might wanna leave a way to get it turned off. I would get a switch to the fence charger mounted on one of the posts. set the switch up so it's in a box with a lock on it. Then the only one who can turn the switch off is whoever has the key. If I lived in a grow friendly state and could grow in my own back yard and had something worth taking, I'd go for both the fence and the dog. Also you can get motion detectors with an alarm, although running out to your spot every time a cat or possum walks through the yard might get a little old. Harbor freight sells em for like $15, but I'm not sure whether or not they are the motion detectors that will ignore small animals or not. Worth a look though.

this is a huge topic here...im sure you could find the old threads google "rippers rollitup"
"driveway alerts" from harbor freight...i have read threads were they saved the day..check for a coupon making them like $11 each
you want a bunch of them..so you can tell if it's a false alarm (read cat) or a ripper...... they are wireless....you can keep the speaker part outside so the rippers hear it or keep it inside so you can (both is best imo)
motion activated lights could stress plants....even make them take longer to flower...
also if you're in cali you can't try and hurt rippers...
also you should look into carport greenhouses....
also like be ez said dogs are aces as well...

I worry more about home invasions then my plants getting stolen. The first thing I did was reinforce the door locks and door frame and added motion security lights. Then I fixed the fence and started keeping it padlocked. Later I added ornamental cow bells to my fence as a old school early warning in case someone jumps the fence. I also keep my plants way in the back so it's not visible from the street. I own a dog but I keep her indoors.

I might sleep in the TV room where I can see my back yard.keep the TV on and loud at night and maybe scatter a few of those walk way /drive way solar powered lights so I can see whats in the yard at night, they wont effect the plants as long as you keep em a good distance(6-7 feet) away from your girls.:weed:

Unless the Electric fence is to keep the two Rottie's inside your grow... just put the dogs food bowl near your plants and dogs will fight and protect, if they think their food source is being taken...

Good Luck Man...

I got a 50kg mastiff that keeps even the bravest away, know one would even consider jumping the fence when she is around very protective guard dogs.

Anyway growing in the backyard I am more worried about the police ans their damn helicopters flying around all the time.

If you are more worried about someone steeling your plants you may have to re evaluate your situation

if people come thru your yard than u cant grow there, I am not very social and I don't have tons of buddies but 3 or 4 people I know have discovered my ops by chance and I had to just accept it. The people I know who know are cool but what if not even thinking about it they tell the wrong guy, I told everyone that knew that I would shoot someone in the leg if I caught them just to bark a little
