Preventing Powdery Mildew

Hey peeps,
I grow hydroponic, DWC, Lucas Method with GH Flora Micro and Bloom. I had a problem with PM on my last grow. I used Greencure Potassium Bicarbonate, but that just barely kept the PM in check. I had to spray every couple of days. My question is, does anyone know of a product that will prevent PM? I thought about Eagle EW-20, but I'm really scared to use the herb that's been treated with that stuff. Any suggestions from the ganja gurus?

Thanks!!

Hi there,

I'm long way from a guru but had a bit of PM this year. What I did to get rid of it was cut the infected leaves, neem oil and lowering of the humidity levels. It's been more than a week and no sings of PM. killa!!!! :D

What has worked really great for me to get rid of Powdery Mold is to do two steps. The first step is to increase the circulation in the room. This will prevent the mold from coming back. I like to set up fans around the plants and point them at the wall or generally mess with them until it looks like all the plants are gently twittering in the breeze, but aren't moving around too much. Too much wind can mess your plants up, but a gentle breeze and some rustling is really good for the plants and will prevent PM.

Next, the treatment I like for PM is SM-90. You can get it online for cheap or also at most gardening/hydroponic stores. Basically, mix up a teaspoon per gallon of water and spray your leaves thoroughly with the mixture just before the lights go off. If you spray your plants when the lights are on, then your lights may burn the leaves when they're wet so it's best to spray right before the lights go off.

SM-90 is made up mostly of oil and is safe to use even if your plants are budding. I only had to spray my plant once or twice and I've never gotten PM since.

^Exactly, air circulation is the best measure, as-is lower humidity. I like to keep veg below 50%, and bloom below 35%, and never had a problem. I took a couple clones from a friend who had them outside(risky, I know, but I was desperate.lol), and they had a very small amount of mildew starting. I hit them with some neem, kept humidity around 30%(in veg), and keep an oscillating fan on 24/7, and the mildew disappeared. So fart, so good. If it comes back, I'm scrapping them, but am pretty confident it won't. Oh yeah,..I also sprayed them once with an chemical anti-fungal treatment, before using the neem. That might be a good idea, given your circumstances. :)
