Preference on raw material preparation for oil

I have been using hash oil for pain management. The last batch I made was good, but my yield was less than it should have been.

When you make your oil, do you prefer to freeze your plant matter, or dry it out? I'm worried about losing trichomes as they fall off during grinding and transfering between containers before the point where the solvent gets evaporated.
To me, logically it would make more sense to freeze the material whole, freeze the glass jars I will be using for mixing ect and then grind it up and start the process. My thought process is is that if the oils, trichomes, ect are frozen, they will be less likely to leave that sticky keify residue on implements and not get...lost in translation.

What are your thoughts? I know there are many different ideas on this out there, just wondering what your personal preference is and why.

Thanks ya'll, have a happy day

I seem to get the largest yields out of fresh dry trim. I usually place all my trim on a large dish untill its dry enough for a good hand crumble and this seems to be when i get the largest yields..

Really to be fair I have never done a side by side though guess i could run a few medium tubes 1 frozen fresh 1 frozen dry 1 dry and see what the numbers are.

I grind my fresh frozen while frozen before extracting...

Yield is more about starting quality.. in general the less you yield the more potent, I mean qwiso typically yields 10-15% but can easily pull 25%. That extra crap is just that..
I try to make the most pristine extracts possible. I don't use fresh frozen for yield and I don't chop while frozen for it either..but yes your thinking is on the right track

lost in translation. ...is my speciality even here on RIU.org .....lol
stick to the convention and use fresh herb, as I too have heard of this fresh is always best ....look to growing a specific hash strain out, ...makes all the difference
