is 10/3 romex sufficient wire for my grow room il be hooking it up to its own breaker (30amp)
here is a list of equipment il be using.

2 1000w air cooled hood with hps/mh digilux bulbs
2 6inch suncourt fans
2 lumatek digital ballast
1 small inline fan for fresh air
2 osculating fans

what il be using is all new 10/3 wire with 30amp breaker and best wall socket money can buy
this will be in a 10x10 new addition with its own breaker spot. what i want to know is this wire sufficient
to handle this load. lmk:eyesmoke:

what will the ac / dehumid or heater run on

if you are building a room and its own power, id hope you'd go a little overkill rather than need to add anything in the future.. go 60amps. :) and you won't need to worry

build a relay... its cheap easy and safer than runing 2-1000 on a wall plug

this one has 4 plugs and a dryer cord but you can make one for 2 plugs thats hardwired ....has a trip cord for the timer

what gauge wire would you run? or is mine sufficient enough?

i don't think they make a 60amp single pole breaker. i think 40 is the highest.

10 guage is rated for up to 30 amps... just your ballasts will use 19 amps... depending on the size air condi amp wise 5-6 amps...youll have 5 amps for your fans and bs

you shouldn't put more than 80% of a breaker/wire's rated capacity on the circuit. so for a 30 amp breaker and 10 gauge wire you shouldn't draw more than 24amps on that circuit.

since were on the subjects of wires... do they make special extension cords for portable ac units? I got one that is 9k btu / 115volt 700watts. Though my window is no where near a outlet.

sure budzski, just look for a heavy duty extension cord. it will say on the packaging what wire gauge it has. anything 14 or higher is fine. most outdoor extension cords will be fine. i run a ton of power tools on extension cords with no problems at all.
