Well that will do it.
Simple fix. I feel like a BMW designer, alway over engineering things when there is a simple fix. I got to remember KISS (keep it simple stupid)
Between you and 420, my brain hurt from trying to comprehend all the fixes, LOL. Certainly nothing wrong with overengineering but right now I'm just into simple, quick, easy, and cheap. I really value you guys input.

There looking alright for your lights. They are a lil droopy but they are BIG. How old are they?

They are five weeks old. They were droopy for a few hours because the rez water got low and the roots dried out a bit.

I've already flipped them. I would hate to think what they would look like if I were still veggin' LOL. 9' tall probably.

I think it was about 32" when I started, maybe a little shorter; I'd have to check the dates on my pix. It's somewhere on the thread. I had to raise the lights again today; they grew another 3" in the last two days.

Here are pix from today:

This is the "little girl". She is only about half the height of the others but otherwise very healthy.

Hey pimp, in the last pic., why is the new growth tips cut like you do with clones, the fan leaf tips. Does this do something to the plant?

It's called "FIMing" (stands for Fuck, I Missed). You trim off 75% of the leaf bud and it gives you four colas instead of one. You can do normal topping but it only gives you two colas. More is good, right? :)

I dont think you cut down enough to fim. did it work?
I usually do it and cut off more than I want and it seems to work out. or I just top the shit out of em.:weed:

Those look like good FIM's to me! Especially the top pic. The second pic is hard to tell.

Anyway, just dropped by to say nice work potpimp! I've been following this from the start. You have convinced me to go LED for my veg chambers. I have a 90W(1wx90) UFO LED on the way. Most of the motivation was from your results, and the savings in energy. I can replace my 400w MH and save $30/month.

420 4 fun posted a link earlier to some crazy LED lights for flowering. www.led300.com has anyone seen any pics of these in action? The 300 or 600? I need proof :)

EDIT: hey andyman! I didn't realize that was you, haha. I seem to be following you lately!

Thanks for the kind words repvip. I checked on the led300, if that is the one where Urban Grower meets them at the cannabis cup or something - looks like some sort of trade show thing - and they don't have them ready for production yet. I think they were just seeing what sort of interest they would have before going full bore. Check out the LED's on fleabay too; they have 55w panels for $99. I'm going to be a few more from there but I'm getting blue ones and red ones this time, probably about 2-3 of each. Man is there ever a fucking end to all this equiptment buying? It's fun but I'm hearing this constant sucking sound coming from my wallet, LOL.

This was my first shot at FIM'ing so the jury is still out on my success. I know one thing, if these things don't start showing some damn bud in the next few days I'm gonna lop about a foot off them. I cranked back the light time yesterday by about an hour. I have them on about 13.5 off now I think. I may even add another hour of dark time. Maybe that will throw them on into flower. I just wanna see some buds!!

I just checked out a cloning demo on YouTube that is completely different from what I've been doing. I've always understood that you take clones from the branches lowest on the stalk but this guy takes a topping just below 3 nodes. WTF... did I sleep through something?

saw this last year before I found riu.this guy kinda knows whats up.you dont need to use rooting hormoneIve used lower and upper branches and have had better results out of lower.Ive been told the lower branches are closer to the roots and have more of those hormones. but when it comes to growing herb people who dont know much act like they do and will tell you everything.most of the big guys from like high times ( George C.) say to use the lower ones.the way I look at its, since both work ( upper & lower) just use the lower branches that are not going to get full light anyway. when your main tops will and they are were your best heady buds are anyway. the more lower branches you have out, the more airflow you get under your plants. look how yours have been doing great and you took from the lower right?

Yep, I was going to lollipop them anyway so using them for clones was a no-brainer. I checked out Cruzer's WW grow and I think he is cutting clones, stripping and dipping then putting them in rapid rooter plugs and then into RW. I'm waiting on an answer from him for clarification. I've got Jose Cervantes' DVD and a few books. I think I'll go through them today. Thanks Andy.

I can explain that.

He is talking about topping on a mother plant. He is taking the top part to keep it smaller. And he is taking a really good part to clone off of a Mother plant.

Now, if your just going to clone the plants you are going to put into flower, you don't want to use his method.

When you have your tools and accessories ready and have soaked your medium, you should select a soft, small branch from the bottom of the plant, one that wouldn't amount to much anyway. If you are planning to keep the plant in vegetative growth to continue taking cuttings then you should take cuttings from any shoots that have two or three nodes. I take cuttings that are between two and four inches long, but some people prefer to take cuttings as long as eight inches.

That would be the proper way to take a clone from a plant that your going to put into flower. Not a mother. Some people prefer to take clones this way with there mother too, and let there mother get bigger for more clones.

Then some people who have a mother want to keep it smaller, so they take Big clones from the tops.

That would explain why he was talking about taking a clone from the top, not everyone does that.

I take them from the bottom too

LED's are cool and all, but i would suggest that you get all blue led's as to if you get the red/blue led's you will get stretching between nodes like potpimp did. The red spectrum as we as know promotes internode stretching and bud formation, blue promotes foliage growth and branching

Very true Bobby; that's why I'm going to buy 2-3 red ones and 2-3 blue ones next time. I might put one of the mixed ones in the middle or something or just use them for clones. As far as I'm concerned, the LED myth that they are just an expensive "toy" light is totally busted. I think I've proved that. Now I just have to see how they do in flower. Even with the mixed lights they should do OK. I know that if I had pure red ones it would be twice the light but I don't have the cash right now to buy anything else.
