I haven't checked on them yet Buggs but I'd guess they don't have any roots just yet. I'll give them another few days before I peek. Looks like three of the clones from plant #4 is done for; evidently they couldn't handle the stress of becoming clones. All the rest are looking awesome and I didn't even add Superthrive to the water or give them any sort of foliar spray.

cool,did you make that cloner,

im cheap i use styrofome cups and sand, atleast my first attempt, from useing strait soil, but the leaves got all yellow and dry with black spots, pissed me off,i got it under control now though

I did make the cloner. You can't get much cheaper than this lil baby and it's doing a great job so far. Four of the clones didn't make it but I'm quite sure it was my screw-up; I took too long to get the cloner running when I was taking them. I gave them no foliar spray or anything. It took about 15 - 20 minutes to prep them all and the first ones I did were out of water for most of that time, and the first three of them didn't make it so I'm sure it was my mistake for not having the cloner on. I took four more clones today to replace them. I snipped two of them off (plant #5), dunked them in the water (from the cloner), prepped them and got them straight into the cloner. I then snipped two off plant #3 and did them the same way. I'd be willing to bet they will turn out great. I did check the stems, no roots yet but the one I checked was dripping water off the tip.

say pimp, during cloning do you notice any of your stems going purple? if so, how many days in do they normally start going purple? how many days after they go purple do you start week 1 veg?

None of my stems have turned purple Bobby. If they did I wouldn't worry about it. Purple is just as good as green to me. :)

Nasty nasty grow. I am definitely building one of these setups when I get some extra time. I have Nirvana's WW going also which was started about a month ago and the biggest one has 5 nodes. I am doing soil so it kind of gives me a comparision to your aero setup. Good luck and keep growin.....

I have one more week of growing on my plants and the largest one has 11 nodes on it. I might would have more but I FIM'ed the leaf buds. The tallest one is 29" tall. I did two grows side-by-side last year, one in a premium soil mix (see Subcool's Super Soil thread) and one in rockwool. They don't hold a candle to this grow. You'll never look back after using this system.

Well folks, I learned something else about clones: if you wait until they show signs of sex to take your clones, they have little chance of survival - at least with the white widow I'm growing. As I understand it, the hormonal changes in the plant switch from the possibility of procreation via cloning to the potential of seeding, therefore, switching off the rooting hormones and making the likelihood of clone survival slim to none.

Another thing I learned today is to keep tabs on your rez level. It's amazing how much water 6 mature plants can use! When I checked on them this morning they were wilted over. It's not the first time I've had that to happen so I knew they would recover since it could not have been too long since they had water. I quickly got some water, threw in some nutes, checked the TDS, added a little more, rechecked the TDS, added a little pH down and poured it onto the top of the res (it has drain holes in the top). In a couple of hours they will be perked up again. There are always things to learn and experience in doing this and it seems every week there is some new challenge to overcome or a bullet to dodge. But the more I learn, and especially with this new system, the less bullets there are to dodge.

im not too sure about white widow, but i took 11 clones from my sour disel plant and they are still alive, although purple stems and petioles, 6 are showing roots(2 with 1" roots), it has been a total of 10 days since taking the cuttings.....my sour disel plant has experienced much stress and is well into showing its sex

potpimp, you do know that the lower you take the cutting from the mother the better right??? also it is ok to put dip'n'grow hormones into the res, not to mention it is best to use a rooting solution like b'cuzz but preferably rhizotonic:?:

Yeah, I know to take the lowest ones; they have the most rooting hormone in them - but it was just too tempting to take one 2-3 times the size. I guess one a lot smaller that lived would have been much better than a big one that didn't. Oh well, lesson learned.

On another negative note, I positively identified plant #3 as being male. So out he came along with his two clones (of course they were flourishing!). I have 7 viable looking clones left so far. Since I need to lollipop them anyway, I'll just go ahead and take the itty bitty clones off the bottom. I know GardenKnown says take 5.5 to 10 mm but geeez, that's huge! I'll take what I can get for now, maybe grow and keep some moms later. Over and out.

I used to take a shitload of cuttings at the same time of flipping to sex them, take more than you need and then when you have determined the sex, you will have already rooted babies, chuck out the males, grow the females as moms until the time that you need to start new babies so you can run your perpetual system in sync with the already flowering plants. Once you have it dialed in, timewise, nute wise etc.... it will be such a thrill !!!

I take cuttings about 1/4" below the 3rd node on the lower branches, then I scrape off the 3rd node with a razor, dip it in root gel and pop it into a jiffy. It leaves 2 nodes above ground. I do it old school and get about 99% success rate. Just putting them into a tray that holds 50.

If you have the space, its always nice to keep a back up mom or moms if you are doing multiple strains, just incase (knock on wood) there is a bad fuck up and one loses the crops. It takes SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much time to start from seed again.

For your system, grow more moms than you need so you dont have to rape the plants that will go into the system, when you have more than enough, you can shred those whole extra plants into babies.

not to act like i know everything cause this is my first clone try, but Al b.Fuct takes bigger clones, ones with a stem of 5mm and says he gets the best results from bigger ones.

I guess its best to take cuttings from lower branches and branches coming from nodes closest to the stem as possible those should be the thickest of all on the plant

do you do any shaving of the cutting, or do you splice it up the middle a bit. So far all i have done is the splicing up the middle, i have yet to shave the sides.

Also, you might want to try rhizotonic by canna, that stuff really really works, just that and water should make your clones go goo goo for canna stuff. Im seriouslly thinking about going all canna nutes because of rhizo's awesome results and the fact that they say and so does Al B. that the ph does not bounce around, you set it and it stays there....

...if you notice on the disclaimer page of their website, before you can even go into there product line, they tell you that products are meant for growing weed, to me, thats a prime sign that their products will make your plants flourish, that just my semi-professional pyshcological opinion tho

Thanks for the great advice 420! There are definitely some golden nuggets in there for me. It's going to be "fun" trying to get everything timed right but it has to be done. For the moment I basically have 5 flowering plants and the 7 clones. When I get these little ones in veg and am able to take more clones, I should be rockin. I appreciate your input!
