Pot Size To Yield Ratio

I do feel pot size is a limiting factor, but only to an extent, especially with root pruning pots. Way too many factors to put an "average" weight per pot size IMO.

Veg time and genetics would play the largest roles, assuming there was adequate lighting/environment. Pot size would only become a problem after a long veg time, and even then mostly to grower error/not being able to keep up with feeding/watering.

Here's a plant in a regular 20 gal plastic pot that I'm expecting 32-48 oz out of (who knows LOL).

That is amazing. How long was the veg?

I grew two plants outdoors last year and they didn't yield as well as I expected. Only got 670g from two plants this size lol. Didn't go the way I expected so I moved inside. They vegged for 10 weeks and flowered for 11. Way too much space and time for that type of yield. They were my first plants and my expectations were super high due to a five month wait.

I know I made a shit ton of mistakes during those runs above as well, so I'm my mind, those were far from optimal yields and could have been better if i had more experience, humidity/temp control and didn't smoke weed 24/7 beside my tents lol.

Keep in mind this is my only reference as these are the only plants I've ever grown in pots (grew a few outdoors last year), so it's all i know. Along the way I got told everything I did was wrong so there's definitely room for improvement lol.
A lot of what you hear is just hype when it comes to this plant. I'd say your results speak for themselves!
I bet most of the naysayers couldn't even match your yield

Hey man the way I see it is 670g without an electric bill counts as a win in my books! And you could always do both LOL

She started in May so she'll go about the same time

VincenzioVonHook your plants look excellent and the numbers speak for themselves. It doesn't look like you lollipop as much as most growers do but as long as the bugs aren't too airy, who cares?

Hoping to get close to your numbers on my 3x3. Harvesting in 2 ish weeks. My 4x4 just got flipped a week ago but it's canopy is packed! Only had 3 micro grows prior resulting in 2 zips per plant under CFL so still kinda in the noob stage. I did make the costly switch to led in the tents.

I do think we should start posting light type and wattage along with if co2 was used for better insight

This thread was written before LEDs were good.
Those numbers are awfully low.

Welcome to the future!

As we all know, yield depends on a myriad of things - soil, sun, water, genetics, etc. All that taken into consideration, I have noticed some average yields from different container sizes when given good conditions.

1 gallon container = half ounce yield
2 gallon container = 1 ounce yield
5 gallon container = 2.5 ounce yield
7 gallon container = 4 ounce yield
10 gallon container = 5-6 ounce yield
20 gallon container = 10+ ounce yield
100 gallon container = 50 ounce yield

OBVIOUSLY These aren't guaranteed yields. Just an average of what you can expect from different container sizes under good conditions. You can yield less or more depending on your experience level and genetics of your plants. Obviously, the 7 gallon and under containers would be best suited for indoor and 10+ are more geared for outdoor growing.
Blessings and Thanks

That's highly impressive! Those yours?
Naw, I haven't the balls to leave a ten dollar seed in a beer cup

The last one is .85 oz though. If my math is right, that's 13.5 ounces per one gallon pot (solo cup being 16 oz, there are 128 oz per gallon). That's a lot compared to the OP's projected "half oz per gallon" hahaha.

14g vs 378g

THE FUTURE IS NOW!!!

Don't rip me a new asshole about diminishing returns plz lol

I agree to a point with the pot size thing I truly don’t weigh my harvest. Im in the north east without a gh so the math usually goes like deduct half of what you think you got for starters and go from there. I truly dont take alot of pics and basically didn’t until last year,so I feel corny using same pic but these are 35 and 100 gal. Imo they’re not that diff in size or yield
