portable AC users i need your help

i have a 12000 btu dual hose ac that i want to put in my room. The problem is i run co2 and dont want it all exhausted. Ive read some peoples threads that this unit will work great and others say it will take the co2 right out.Do any of you know or do this????? Also my AC unit has digital controls for the temp and fan speed, I want to use a cap day night thermostat and dont know if it will reset the ac every time it cycles on and off. any help or advice is much appreciated thanksbongsmilie
 
If it is a dual hose you should be fine. One hose sucks air from outside past the condenser and back through the other hose to the outside. All of the inside air is circulated past the evaporator and back into the tent.

OK now i've got a whole nother problem I've been using a cap daynight thermostat to run the old window unit which i had always just left on high. This new portable is all push button digital controls, so when i hook it to the thermo. andit reaches the desired temp the power is shut off. when power is flipped back on i have to push the power button on the unit then reset the temp. Is there any hting i can do to get around this or am i screwed?
 
My first thought is to set the portable to 82* then keep the window unit plugged in and have it cool the nights down to around 65. just kinda hate haveing a 12000 btu AC running non stop, though it does use less power while cycling on and off the cooling mode.

It doesn't have a thermostat to make it come back on when it gets >82 (or whatever)? That seems kinda weird. If you don't have the owner's manual just call the manufacturer and ask. I hope your problem gets solved dude.
 
yes it will come back on once the temp goes back up but i like to have control of day and night temps seperatly you know. will running the unit non stop at whatever temp say 82, burn up the electicity and the unit
 
most likely it has a timer-
mine do. i can set it to repeat daily. totally automated.

hit up Iam5toned. he's an electrical engineer. failing the built in timer, he'll have an idea.
 
it does have a timer but it only sets one on time and one off.like turn on in 2 hours then off in 6 or whatever
 
the AC is a royal sorvereign arp 1000ex and the c.a.p. timer/thermo is a tmp-dne. the only thing i could come up with is to set the portable at say 82* and leave it on allthe time then keep the window unit hooked up to the cap timer and have it set at 90 for day and 65 night so it only comes on to cool the night down. pretty sure theres no way to have the portable do different temps day and night?
 
the problem here is the digital controls on your devices...
simple digital controls tend to have a nasty habit of powering up in there default state when the power is cycled to the device....

however there is ALWAYS a solution.

let me ask, how good are your back-engineering skills?
are you confident enough to take some of these devices apart, make a few mods, and put them back together?
your problem can be solved by installing a control relay internally on your devices so that you can leave them powered up, so that the settings are not lost when the timer cycles. like breaking the neutrals to the fans and compressor on the dehumidifier and a/c... instead of just killing the entire unit. the control relay circuit would be controlled by your cap timer...

and yes, there is a way to to have two different temps in your growroom, tho i fear that to do it, the parts maybe more expensive than simply upgrading to a better unit, however, if your patient, i can talk you through it.

very cool that you are around to help people out. i myself will be getting a portable ac unit here soon, didnt buy one as i had a good feeling this would be a problem. i have a sentinel controller and does pretty much the same thing (just kills power to the unit when set temp is reached).

now i had a thought (this might be a stupid ? for you and sorry in advance if it is) what if you pull the power button out and just took the wires running to it and tied them together that way when the unit receives power again it automatically turns on (basically bypassing the switch) or would i be wasting time. would all the functions have to be set again regardless (temp, fan speed etc etc...)???
 
im pretty sure that the functions would have to be reset everytime the power is reset...
but your on the correct path.
what we need to do, is break the wires that actually run the motors for the compressor and fan.... that way you can leave the unit powered up, and when your timer goes off, it allows the motors to come on via one or two relays... its sounds more complicated than it is!
 
5toned--- I'm pretty handy when it comes to this stuff I've been a gen.contractor for ten years and have some minior experiance in wireing weird shit, but in no way am i a electrician or a expert.
I would ideally want to have two temps day and night. I checked craiglist and theres a shop selling mini splits 1 tonand 1 1/2 for 450 and 600 resepectivly. I just want to make sure that they come ready to run no bull S. Will i run into the same dual temp problem with the split as well?
