I think it was one you you that posted this video once upon a time. Have you guys ever seen other people trying this?

Think you would have to treat or clean the batting before using it on the plants?

Also maybe it could be used as a cover layer on top to prevent moisture loss and mold/bugs?

I have clones rooting and IL be doing a 3 way experiment with run to waste coco in 2 gal plastic square pots, and 2 gal fabric pots and then the polyfill root layer. All with plastic over the trays.

What do you think? And do you have any suggestions to do this experiment better?

17min: One of the better NFT vidz out their

I have the same cool ..junky Ph and TDS tools ..lol

Honesty I'm a organics type of guy and a very tight one at that

pouring expensive bottles of sewage down the drain I find disturbing on a few counts $$$ ..lol

I also suspect that he may trash the plastic sheeting each or every second grow to keep things mold proof

IMO ...look to Hempy pot method of growing

that way you keep your drain to waste saves you bucks

with weed prices about to tip

this drain to waste will be a very rare thing in months to come

give it a try

good luck

Im actually going to start building mine soon
Just bought the batting last night actually lol

I was going to wash mine with a mild bleach and rinse just cause.

Still kinda figuring out the tweaks im going to make to mine.
But i have to wait till this run is done so i have room.

But im basically going to build somethinng similar to the guys vid.

But im going to make my table a little nicer
Cause i dont want an unseen hole in thenplastic liner to leak.

But ill probably use the panda film for the top cover .

If your asking about using the batting as a top cover? I would stick to the panda because its too breathable. And too much lights for root =algae

Im going to use the panda on top because i think thats why it works so well keeping the roots in a giant miost air chamber.

And that guys roots looked great so if he can do it others can too.

Just my 2

Yea that was the video i was talking about though good for you for looking:)

And mine is going to be a recirc with a drain to waste valve

I bought some batting too from Walmart.

I'm going to make a real good run at this and see if I want to stick to it. I've been reading into no till organic indoor lately lol must stick to one fucking thing.... It's terrible.

I have panda film IL be using to cover my tables. Are you going to try to cover the top of the pot or just halfway up the pots to cover the batting roots?

Are you worried about mold , what's your plan? Any Bennies ? Or sterile?

Man I just noticed a big change in the color and the droop in my clones.

The ph was high again so I fixed that, then I took out the air stone . Just spray 24/7.

And in 3 hours they look totally green and standing up...

Have you ever heard of carbonic acid , the co2 in the water is acidic and when it evaporates it leaves the water with a higher ph. I don't know if it's the cause. Or just luck. But I've literally seen the life come back into these clones.

Do you have high levels of co2?
Ive heard that bubbling can raise ph but i dont remember why sorry on that one

Any ways to the design.

Im just going to put a valve in so if i chose i can recirculate or drain to waste i have my reasons .

As far as the cover goes

Im using 4 inch blocks

So i want my cover to be about 1/2 in to 1 inch over the height of my block...

In my head this should giventhe rockwool more breathing room then just placing the plastic directly on top....
Dont know if its right cause this is the first build for me too :)
Then again i thought about leaving the tops of the block in air as well so still up in the air lol.

As far as mold and mildew. He is running hygrowzyme i think.

As for me im going to be using this system with a straight salt based nutrient with no bio stimulants at first.
So instead of enzymes i was just going to try to run sterile with bleach lol
But i might try the enzymes

Im sure ill make other tweaks as the build goes on . As i have other ideas to try as well

Basically in my head its just a BIG NFT system

And i never had problems with yuck in my nft before . Who knows only time will tell lol

Haven't checked. But I'm not adding any if that's what your asking.

What I think is happening is I'm pumping co2 air into the water, it evaporates and gets stuck in the cloner and raises levels too high maybe I should leave one plug out.

Il test ph tomorrow and we'll see.

Il be working with coco and the full canna coco nutes line, found some great reviews on half dose the whole way through. And IL be timing and regulating the water flow for minimum run off. Shouldn't be too much more water vs a recirc.

I'm only vegging enough to get established then flower, lolly pop, quick turn over monster nugs I'm hoping.

Man if you lived closer i got almost new bottle of coco a and b lol

Ill be vegging for monsters lol they are going to veg while my other run is going then straght into the room

Nice haha it'll be a good all around comparison test.

What drove you away from coco?

The mess
Gnats
Flushing is a bitch

Its great yet i hate it too
I heard 20% runoff = no flushing

What kind of coco did you use that ya got gnats? I'm using cyco coco platinum series. Pre washed, buffered, treated with camg. Supposed to be good right out of the bag.

Then, next run IL use hygrozyme and re use the medium no till

Any ideas how to keep flushing to a minimum and gnats at bay for coco?

I always flushed i know there are many who dont but i did at the end of harvest just my preference

As to the gnats im unsure if they came from the coco or not i was using canna coco

But fromm potting mess to carrying bags of soil

I just did away with it and put it out in the garden

Dont get me wrong coco is a good medium
I liked the way it grew things just not enough to keep it.

I like to just be able to get rid of the old grow by flushing it out on the gardens :)
