Timber makes a solid light for sure. Solid simple design with quality components and workmanship.

when my veg lights die or I convince the wife. Definitely going to be putting a timber light in their

Hi @Summerofsam

Good to hear from you - we are still around. We try to only weigh in on threads where it is appropriate, given we are advertisers, we don't want to come off as used car salespeople :)

That said, I typically check the RIU boards daily and am happy to add in wherever appropriate. WIth respect to COBs being old tech, I must say I do disagree. COBs are actually the replacement technology for high bay HID style lighting like CMH and HPS and is still taking a foothold in the general lighting, as well as horticulturally specific applications. For what it is worth, mid power diode designs like our Cypress, Quantum boards, Fluence and others were the original precursors to COBs, albeit in specifically blue and red spectral output in most cases, but also by other leading tech innovators like NextLight using white Samsung LEDs early on in the game.

Right now the Vero 29 V7 represents one of the most efficient high wattage output COB designs available on the market, and specifically performs well at higher wattages due to the higher drive voltage. Using less current makes these COBs naturally more efficient than others, approaching efficiency measurements close to those of mid power diode style lights.

I hope this helps - if anyone has any questions about our lights - or LEDs in general, we would be happy to assist.

Have a good day.

Thanks,
Dan
Joining the timber club Dan better get to boxing that light I ordered and stop dinking around on the forums

For me it would depend upon how much height you have. More height means more options.

With a lot of height you could go COB or LED, some massively penetrating cobs could kill it, or qb96s. With less (under 8') I would get a distributed LED. The HLG, Meiju or even a Spyder even if a knockoff.

Your light choice is critical, think carefully!

You not a timber fan?

Go for an HLG 600 R - 1522 PPF - same as 1000W single ender HPS

I could do you one if you were this side of the pond but HLG will hook you up

There is the 650R @ 1730 PPF - equiv of double ended 1000W but that's more for 5x5 and slightly above budget

I wouldn't swap a 1000w HP's out for a hlg600 and if the 1000 was in a 5x5 already even less.

I know your busy spamming my country with this but do I have to hear it here constantly after all the threads which say Hlg 600 is not a 1000w equivalent.

Spam was never my intention and I was simply providing a response to your query.

1522 umol leave the 600 per second.

Hope you find what you are looking for.

I did, a company called gavita that said Hlg figures are wrong and then they made a more true 1000w se replacement at 780w not 600.

Then we had some real discussion and Hlg had been overstating their facts and selling lights for a 4x4 as 5x5 which is a lot bigger difference than the 50w on the 650 v 600 area wise.

Now this is American and most are more wise now but the UK market, well that's wide open for all the same claims and here you go with selling 600w replacements for 1000w lights, what's that 40% or something.

Another salesman with a big margin selling light.

I like hlg as for the margins there isn’t much on lighting. The gravita 1:1 your talking about I seen in person at a local shop when they were in. It is 780 watts but according to my meter the hlg and the gravitas were putting out the same levels of light at the same distance from the ”canopy” the gravita was $1099 for the shop to order and at the very least had to sell it at 1299 to make anything because no free shipping or any tiered buying power for me. Now the hlg 650r cost me about 835 and I see what the shop pays Which sent much more than what I got it for. however if I buy 20+ lights the prices can be worked a bit. So my cost on my grow s a bit lighter on the pocket.

The Hlg is not a 1000w equivalent or that close.

your a RIU advertiser , it's not spam.
Advertisers are spreading the worst claims all over UK, shops Amazon eBay. Not many know so it's spamming us before people get to the truth.

LEDs are more new here so we're getting the whole 'were dumb' this grows 40-50% less electricity but is better than a HPS' all over again.

Spam

This debate will carry on for eternity.
As a builder, I don't own a single "plug n play" LED.
I can say this though(again).
In all of my research, over all the years, over the vast expanses of the world wide web, on any forum, I have never seen a single post, regretting buying a Timber grow light.
Ever.
Not one time.

The debate ended, 600w ain't cutting it on a 1000w HPS.

There's a lot of threads on that.
